Derek was amazing!!!!! I have never seen people dancing at a cocktail hour before. Derek had my guests dancing to his songs. Everyone raved about his performance. I hightly recommend hiring Derek for an event. He was extremely professional and met all of my expectations.

Corporate FunctionReviewed on August 20, 2006From Roseland, NJ

I changed the date of my gig kind of last minute & Derek Evan was very willing to accommodate me. Not only did he respond promptly to my inquiry, but he was early for the gig & was very personable. He sang great & everyone seemed to really enjoy his performance. When his performance time was finished, some people wanted to hear more. Derek Evan performed some additional songs & did not charge me any extra for it. He was also friendly to my guests, and had no problem hanging out a little after his show to chat with them. I plan to hire him for some other gigs I am planning & would highly recommend him to others. If you need entertainment for a cocktail hour at your event, or would like to break up your DJ music with some live singing, he would be a perfect choice. Linda Amato, Roseland, NJ

Private PartyReviewed on September 7, 2006From Clifton, NJ

Derek Evan was very professional from the first time I contacted him all the way through until the end of his appearance at my event. He was very good to work with, and his performance was really great! He sounded just as good live as he did on his recordings, and the crowd really seemed to enjoy the show. He has a good personality and seemed very comfortable performing in front of people. He sang alot of great songs including the 2 that I requested which were "Earth Angel" and "In The Still of The Nite". I also like the fact that he did some sing-a-longs with the audience on some songs. It got everyone involved and one person won a free CD. I was surprised that Derek Evan knew so much about the music of the 50's & 60's, but he actually seemed to know more about the music then alot of the people who grew up in that time. Some of his jokes were a little too goofy for my taste, but he did have a few good ones and the people seemed to have a good time. I would definitely hire him again. I also wish that he was still available to perform with his whole group. The CD of his group was great!

EventReviewed on September 20, 2010From Edison, NJ

Our only issue was with our contract. We sent a check for the deposit around Oct. 9th of 2009 and the bank showed it was cashed on Oct. 16th 2009, and I never received the contract. About a week and a half before the event, Derek contacted me and asked if we still wanted him as we hadn't paid the deposit as required. As a result, we had the expense of him faxing and us returning the signed copy the afternoon before the event which did put me under some pressure considering I was in route from Oklahome to NJ.

This response is being posted only to provide additional explanation, however there was in fact an administrative error on our part. The client's deposit was received and cashed, but due to an unusual oversight, the contract was never sent out and the booking was not marked as being confirmed. However, the client never contacted my office to inform us that she never received a contract or a confirmation. That is why the error was not corrected until a few days before the event, when I contacted her to see if she ever found any entertainment for the event. We do apologize for any confusion that was caused by our administrative error. Sincerely, Derek Evan (Derek Evan
