My only regret is that we only hired them to play for one hour. We should have at least doubled that. This is a great band with a great sound. As a person who wouldn't normally listen to this type of music, I am sold now! Great job guys!

Uptown Lowdown is absolutely fantastic! They are very talented and really helped to set a wonderful mood and vibe at my wedding. I cannot say enough good things about them. They are consummate professionals and overall nice people. I would absolutely hire them again for future events and would refer them to anyone who is looking for flawless jazz and swing music.

Bert was ery kind and gracious, turned this around very quickly for us. I would highly recommend them to anyone and we used them for a memorial not the easiest place and they knocked 200 people's socks off.

Birthday Party (Adult)•Reviewed on April 7, 2007•From Gig Harbor, WA

Everyone from the 10 year old grandson to the 86 year old guest was out on the dance floor during my Dad's 75th birthday party celebration. The music was easy and fun to dance to, and yet it was easy to carry on conversations at our tables. The group is very pleasant and easy to work with and they definitely made the party more festive. I would hire them again.

To Whom it May Concern: Mr. Barr and the Band were wonderful. When I had talked to Mr. Barr about what I was trying to do, (Celebrate Black History)by sharing the history of the music and the hardships of the time for Black Artist. Mr. Barr shared history, insight of the music, and gave an excellent show and overall, I believe that people gained a new respect for the music and were impressed by the band. At the end of the show the Band answered questions and demonstrated some of the answers as well. I feel very fortunate to have had an opportunity to meet and work with the Uptown Lowdown Band. Thank you very much. :)

Wedding Reception•Reviewed on September 30, 2012•From Bellingham, WA

The ULJB was one of the highlights of our wedding. They agreed to come up to Bellingham from Seattle without any additional fees and were set up and playing when we arrived at the reception from the ceremony. The ULJB was accommodating of our requests (changing from a 4 to a 5 piece band with only two weeks notice) and played for >3 hours promised. We were a bit disorganized and they brought harmony (literally) to our event. Only criticism would be that the "first dance" song that was played was different than the one we requested, but I'm a bad enough dancer that it didn't make any difference and our guests never knew. Everyone loved ULJB. Recommend highly!

:

I'm not really sure why Michael said we changed his first dance. He requested L-O-V-E and we played it. We spent time adding it to our book along with lyrics. He danced to it. I have nothing more to say. Bert

We booked the group for our annual client event at a local golf and country club. We has over 450 attending in two sessions. The age group of most attendees was in the 50s, 60s and 70s. The band played a great variety of very appropriate songs. Very personable and talented. I would definitely recommend them!

Not only are the very talented musicians keeping up the traditional style of the dixieland era but they have added their own unique interpretation. Combined with this their showmanship puts a finishing touch to their entertainment. Most impressive are the numbers featuring two bass saxes which is a rare experience today. The piano artistry of Rose Marie Barr presents a fresh new approach to ragtime piano.

We were very impressed with the uptown lowdown jazz band. They were professional, extremely talented, and had a style that was enjoyable for our guests of all ages and backgrounds. Booking through gigmasters was easy and Bert (the bandleader) was great for sending us sample CD's and helping us pick out our "special songs". Thank you all for helping to make our wedding unforgetable!

Happy Hour•Reviewed on May 25, 2010•From Seattle, WA

Uptown Lowdown provided an incredible night for our group! The guests all had smiles on their faces the whole night and left the room buzzing with positive comments. The performers were excellent and were able to play requests from the crowd. One gentleman used to sing with a similar group and Uptown Lowdown was generous in allowing him to join them for several songs through the evening. All in all it was a fun night for everyone!

Wedding•Reviewed on October 11, 2008•From Kirkland, WA

In the end, we were happy with their performance. I would say the only thing that I was not too happy about was that they made us feel rushed. They played my wedding and on your wedding day you want to feel like everyone is there to make you happy not the other way around. They played our first dance and I feel like they cut the song short, really short. I understand they had to go but it was meant to be a special moment and I did not think they should have cut it that short. Other than that, I would definitely recommend them and use them again.

:

If we cut your first dance short,we are very sorry. Usually the couple want to keep the dance short so one chorus is the norm. Let me also add that the play time and band size was cut by the bride in order to include a disco bar. We were to arrive at 11AM to reherse and then perform the wedding at 12PM and play until 3pm -total of 3 hours. We were set up outside in a tent in 34 degrees weather with a cold breeze blowing off the Lake. NO ONE approached us from the wedding party and there NO rehersal, After the Ceremony, we had to relocate to play thru dinner. After that we waited until 3:30pm for the first dance to start. No one ever approached about the delay.

Absolutely the best decision I could have made for entertainment at my party. Will recommend them every chance I get. I'm from New Orleans and they are right up there with any band in the city!!!!! What more is there to say?

Private Party•Reviewed on October 11, 2018•From Moses Lake, WA

Uptown Lowdown Jazz Band are great folks. They traveled across the state for our event and turned down our effort to provide them with lodging. Their price was so reasonable that additional money that we had set aside for the entertainment was able to be sent directly to the Cancer Foundation of our community. They are very personable and excellent musicians. Just what we needed for our Gatsby Evening. Thanks again, Jack

Uptown Lowdown Jazz was fabulous and this was both with music quality and professionalism and also in being just a wonderful group of humans. They had syncopation, rhythm and a fabulous selection of music! The band was able to present fun such a happy sound and personality. We were thrilled, and if given the opportunity we would again call on them!

Wedding Reception•Reviewed on July 17, 2017•From Langley, WA

The uptown lowdown was really wonderful. Our guests loved them. Little kids, the older folk, and everyone in between really enjoyed listening to and dancing to these guys. They were very open to requests, although we didnt want anything aside from their own great tunes. I highly recommend this band!

Everyone enjoyed the music and I am delighted with their music and grateful for their patience with us as we had a lot going on with the party and entertainment for our guests! We had such a fun time with their music. They are very professional and hiring them was worth every penny, and this is a direct quote from my mother who is 94 years old and danced her heart out along with the rest of us! You won't be disappointed hiring them! Thank you so much!
