Derek took the time to reach out to me via email, his writing was clear and polished (which I thought was a good sign of professionalism), and he had a website with samples of himself playing, which helped a lot. I wanted him to surprise my brother at the alter. It was his professionalism, his promptness and clear communication that convinced me that I could trust him to help me pull off the surprise without-a-hitch. He arrived at a hard-to-find-venue, an hour out of Austin, perfectly on time and was patient until it was time to play. He played beautifully! As a person, I found him to be generous, accommodating, and forbearing. I would highly recommend hiring him!

Derek Young performed at my father's burial service at 11 am in hot Texas heat. Perfect selections, perfect length, and perfect timing added much grace to a very sad day. Thank you, sir, for a befitting tribute and your fine bagpipe playing.
