Winner of numerous prizes and scholarships, Jeremiah Baker started playing the saxophone at the age of 12. He recently won the Sound of America Solo Competition in Orlando, Florida as well as the Young Soloist Competition at Shenandoah University. Active as a soloist with orchestra and as a recitalist, Jeremiah is also an active chamber music artist. Recently, Mr. Baker performed as soloist with flutist Marina Piccinini at Alice Tully Hall in New York City and in Rachmaninoff's Symphonic Dances with conductor Gustav Meier.

Mr. Baker has been performing extensively in recital on the East Coast and particularly in the Baltimore and Washington, D.C. area. He is currently premiering new works for the saxophone and transcribing and reviving older famous works for different classical instruments such as the clarinet, flute, oboe, and violin including works by Bach. Using the saxophone as a bridge between the popular and classical world, Mr. Baker is currently working to increase the popularity of classical music, using the saxophone to draw in new audiences. He is active in the Creative Access Outreach Program bringing classical music to audiences of children and adults who have had no access to it.

Jeremiah Baker attended the prestigious Virginia Governor's School. He was awarded a talent scholarship to attend the Peabody Conservatory and has completed the exclusive Five Year BM/MM program. He is in his second year of the Doctorate program and will be the first saxophonist at Peabody to receive this degree when completed. He first studied with Joseph Eckert, former director and lead saxophonist of the Airmen of Note. He then went on to study under the tutelage of Gary Louie at the Peabody Conservatory. Jeremiah has participated in master classes with such musicians as Trent Johnson and the Halcyon Trio.
