Charles Gentry is a product of the University of Southern California. There are few speakers in the world who can say that as an athlete they played with and against some of the greatest athletes in the world including Hall-of-Fame baseball players Eddie Murray and Ozzie Smith, while also being able to say that he was a classmate of Raymond Washington co-founder of the "Crips" notorious street gang. Not only does Gentry have that distinction but he is a professional journalist as well with over 30 years in the industry, having interviewed and written feature stories on some of the leading athletes and entertainers in the world including former heavyweight champion George Foreman, NFL football stars Troy Polamalu, Drew Brees, and Adrian Peterson; NBA All-Stars Dwight Howard, and Jeremy Lin, and WNBA star Maya Moore; Olympians Allyson Felix, Gabby Douglas, and Missy Franklin; Grammy award winning music artists Al Green, Toby Mac, Switchfoot, and many more. Gentry survived the streets of South Central Los Angeles to earn acclaim and recognition in multiple fields as a journalist, songwriter, poet, author, activist, and teacher. He is also a former advertising copywriter who has written commercials for famous products like Coca Cola, Pepsi, and Nestle'.
Gentry is the recipient of 2 Black Journalism Association Scholarship Awards, a CBS Broadcast Journalism Scholarship Award, 3 Milestone Magazine Literary Awards, and a Paint It Black Magazine Poetry Award. He is the author of two books "INVINCIBLE" and "Trojans", and has been published in various local and national newspapers and magazines including the Los Angeles Times, Los Angeles Sentinel, Ventura Star-Free Press, Contemporary Christian Music magazine, and dozens more publications. As a songwriter he has scored hits on the Billboard Magazine charts as well as England's Top of the Pops.
Gentry has done decades of work with at-risk youth and is the founder of the recognized groundbreaking youth programs "The Excel Entrepreneur Club", "Summer of Success", and "Summer of Dreams". He has been a mentor teacher and active volunteer in his community through coaching Little League and tutoring inner city youth. Still, Gentry has found the time to become a successful entrepreneur serving as CEO and Founder of media companies The Poets Without Limits, and Musical Madness, and innovative networking company Visions3Alliance. He is the host of radio shows The Poets Without Limits, and Musical Madness Mondays, and senior editor of The Poets Without Limits Magazine. Whether it is motivating at-risk teens or inspiring corporate leaders to excel, rising from an impoverished youth to multiple levels of success certifies that Charles Gentry has the background, experience, knowledge and charisma to positively and permanently influence lives.
