Shortly before the ceremony was to begin, Ms. Mell informed the wedding planner that, and I quote, "she would not play outside (which she knew about, under a tent in which the temperature was 66 degrees) and that regardless of what point in the ceremony it was, if her fingers got cold, she would stop playing and sit on her hands to warm them up." As the groom, I had enough on my plate to contend with, I certainly did not need a harpist with an attitude. I honestly couldn't even tell you about her musical abilities because she situated herself so far away from anyone attending the wedding, I couldn't even hear it.

When I was booked for this gig, the client informed me that I would be playing indoors at the restaurant. Two weeks before the gig date, she informed me that the ceremony would be held in a tent out on the patio. On the day of the gig the situation was thoroughly unacceptable. The outdoor temperature in the tent was 43 degrees F. All of the guests were inside and didn't want to go outside. So I played the prelude where the guests were inside and went into the tent to play the prelude and recessional and played the rest of the time inside the restaurant where the guests were situated. I got many nice compliments on how beautiful the music was.

She arrived 1/2 hour late and refused to begin setting up till she received her "money," which would have been fine if we did not have 100 guests waiting to hear music. I was absolutely disgusted!

The statement that I arrived 1/2 hour late and demanded my money are absolutely untrue. I am completely surprised by these comments! I arrived when I promised to arrive, and the bride agreed with the arrival time. I arrived, as promised, 25 minutes before I was to start playing the prelude. I checked in with the priest and the music director, set up, and started the prelude EARLY, as the guests were arriving, as we had agreed. The priest and music director can attest to this.
