We needed a piper on short notice to play at a funeral. Internet searches including Gigmasters rated Jim highly so we reached out to him and a few others. He was the first to respond. We was consistently responsive and professional in every way. He took special requests and dressed in the Scottish tradition we requested. He was flexible with arrangements before and during the ceremony. His music and decorum were perfectly appropriate and helped make the day what we envisioned. I highly recommend Jim to anyone looking for a great bagpiper in Philly or the surrounding vicinity.

My husband requested 2 things for his funeral and the bagpipes are one. My husband would have been very pleased with his performance and the reverence he showed. I was not able to speak with him but I have already recommended him to the funeral director for future needs.

Jim was a terrific player. He showed up with enthusiasm and got our whole party into the mood to celebrate. And his playing was fantastic. I'd highly recommend him to anybody.

Jim McGilvery is an absolute gem to work with. From each moment we conversed through email, on the phone, and finally in person, he was so patient and professional... Tending to all of our questions and song lists. We hired Jim for a memorial service for my grandmother and he played so beautifully before and after the service. His performance was impeccable, his attire was spot on, and we really cannot wait to hire Jim for another event in the future. Absolutely lovely. Don't hesitate to book him.

jim was great, everyone was impressed by his grand piping. he was a trooper playing through heavy rain up until the end of the funeral. I am sure bonnie was smiling down on us. shame I did not get a chance to meet jim due to the weather. thanks, tony

Words cannot express how appreciative we are. We hired Jim for the memorial of my sister's fiancé. Everyone knew the love he had for the bag pipes. Jim was professional and very accommodating and went above and beyond by coming out the day after a huge snow storm. We were devastated the night before watching the snow fall but Jim still showed up! He walked in in full traditional attire. Not a sound as he played and we all had tears in our eyes, all thinking of fond memories and saying good bye. Customer service has gone down hill in most places you go or services you use, Jim gave us faith that decent business people still exist!

I hired Jim to play at my stepfather's recent funeral right outside of Harrisburg, PA. From our initial contact and communications to his last song played at the burial, I have never been more impressed. He truly was a pleasure to work with, was very timely in his responses to my request and emails, detail oriented, extremely professional (including his traditional piper attire), arrived very early so that he was plenty ready prior to the procession line arrival and, after meeting him, I could tell he is just an all-around great guy. His beautifully played music truly brought something priceless to my stepfather's service. I highly recommend Jim McGilvery!!!!

Jim was a consummate professional. Courteous, responsive, and diligent, he even researched and obtained sheet music for requested tunes not in his vast repertoire. Jim showed up early, and played until the very end of the burial service on a very hot summer afternoon. He was immaculately attired, and interacted well with the funeral director. Jim added that extra special touch to our Saint Patrick's weekend wedding! He was super communicative and involved throughout planning ahead of time, and made sure his part of our ceremony went off without a hitch without us having to worry about anything the day of.
