Zumpthing Klezmer Band from Oakland, CA

Zumpthing is a Klezmer and world music trio that offers traditional and contemporary music for weddings, parties, bar/bat mitzvahs, holidays and festivals. Jewish and Eastern European melodies meet swampy grooves, with diverse influences from New Orleans to Northeastern Brazil, Ireland to India. Expect playful improvisations, deep traditions, heartfelt harmonies, rousing freylachs, trancy zoks, sweet waltzes and salty swing. You may also encounter such improbabilities as delayed alliteration, extended metaphor, and psychedelic cat stories. Zumpthing features Dave Rosenfeld on fiddle, mandolin and lead vocals, Diana Strong on accordion, Aharon Wheels Bolsta on drums, percussion and other bells and whistles. We can also offer an expanded band by request, with the addition of bass, horns and other instruments to make your event even more spectacular. Dave is also a well-known dance leader and bodch'n (traditional Yiddish wedding jester), keeping this rich and playful Jewish tradition alive and well, and if you'd like, present at your event.
