On the Classical Instrumental Music side, PETER CAESAR has for many years performed Classical Music masterpieces for the keyboard and he has also composed his own Classical Music in the Baroque style--inspired especially by the music of J.S. Bach, George Frideric Handel, Jean-Baptiste Lully, and Antonio Vivaldi. PETER CAESAR can also improvise in popular and classical musical styles; he is a master of the art of Baroque improvisation at the Classical organ keyboard.
PETER CAESAR's vocal repertoire also extends to Classical music--with a concentration on the Baroque and Rococo periods of the 17th and 18th centuries. His classical vocal repertoire includes Italian arias by the Baroque opera composers Claudio Monteverdi, Domenico Scarlatti, and George Frideric Handel. He sings poignant Ayres by the English Baroque composer Henry Purcell--equally well. Peter Caesar's love of French Baroque Classicism is reflected in his performances of operatic Airs from the classical mythological operas (in French: tragedies lyriques) composed by Jean-Baptiste Lully.
PETER CAESAR began his love affair with music at the age of ten--when he was already playing the keyboard works of J.S. Bach and George Frideric Handel and is, by now, a master of all major keyboard instruments including: piano; clavichord; harpsichord, and pipe organ. He has played many historical instruments (harpsichord and pipe organ) in Italy and in France while a graduate student during the 1980s.
PETER CAESAR was academically trained as an art historian-musicologist-scholar; he holds a Master's Degree (M.A.) from New York University's Institute of Fine Arts and has been a teacher of Art History, Music History, and Humanities for many years. He is the author of three books on the arts.
