Along for the Ride Variety Band from Long Beach, CA

Along for the Ride is a group of musicians from Mexico and the United States that combines Jazz, Bossa Nova, Samba, Flamenco, and other Latin genres. The band's arrangements of standards and original compositions, mirror all these world influences and add a tasty Latin groove. The female voices blend smoothly in Portuguese, Spanish, and English, resembling those vocals popularized during the 1970's by Sergio Mendes and Antonio Carlos Jobim, and making it a unique band in Los Angeles area. Along for the Ride plays in large festivals, as well as in intimate receptions. Among their regular events are the Day of the Dead Celebrations at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery, as well as different student-oriented college events. They have played at UCLA, USC, and Caltech. Along for the Ride has also played in local Jazz clubs (e.g. the Seabird Jazz Lounge, the BB King, and Safari's), and is the host band for the Casa Arjona's monthly house concerts, in the city of Long Beach. The band was part of the musicians roster of the Los Angeles County Arts Commission and participated on public concerts at different parks in the LA county. Besides its participation on concerts and festival the band also have the flexibility to configure its lineup according to the needs of the event and can go from a duo, trio, quartet or the whole band as a septet. The band has its own P.A. and can cover from small and medium size venues as well as medium size outdoor events. The extensive repertoire of Jazz, Brazilian and Latin standards is the perfect choice for corporate events, private receptions, weddings or even festivals and concerts for the community. The band released its first CD "Cromatico" on 2008 that is available on Amazon and is working on its second album.
