Spoken Word artist: Harper Lee and Willa Cather Spoken Word Artist from New York City, NY

I present two different solo shows: The Secrets of A Mockingbird: the Life of Harper Lee. In this show, I play Harper Lee, the beloved but reclusive author of TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD and many characters in her life. She had close relationships with her father and her best friend,Truman Capote. They both broke her heart. She never wrote another book. Until she did. In this solo show,THE SECRETS OF A MOCKINGBIRD, we find out why. Willa Cather :Her Life and Loves In this show, I play the famous author of My Antonia and O Pioneers and many of her friends and relatives, including her benefactor, Mellon heiress, Isabelle McClung. We learn of her humble beginnings in a small Nebraska town in the 1880's , her successful career in publishing, when she became friends with Mark Twain and Theodore Dreiser, and her acclaimed career as a novelist, which led to her winning a Pulitzer Prize. Supremely confident, Cather always said "being a woman never damaged my ambition to become Pope or Emperor." Yet she ordered all her letters burned upon her death. She hoped the world would never discover the truth about her. This show sheds light on what she was hiding. Both shows are approximately 1 hour and have been performed at universities, libraries and performing arts centers across the US. I am a Broadway actor and have appeared in 4 Broadway shows and 10 movies, including Sister Act, with Whoopi Goldberg and the upcoming Coen Brothers movie, The Ballad of Buster Scruggs.
