Santa Ric donned the "Red Suit" for the first time in 1973 for his fourth-grade Christmas show and has carried the magic of Santa ever since. In 1980, he made his second appearance at a business Christmas party and has delighted the young and young-at-heart over the years since. Starting in 1981, Santa began to work more closely with children (especially at-risk youth) and mentally-challenged adults (both passions of his) while still making the rounds of business and social organization Christmas parties. By 1998, Santa moved into a key position that would ultimately shape and direct his future. By Christmas 2002, "Santa Ric", as he was becoming known, had taken over the reins of an internationally known not-for-profit's largest per-capita Christmas assistance program in the U.S. Still making appearances for children and certain groups, Santa Ric - hat worn proudly - moved from making believe to making Christmas happen for over 50,000 Central Virginia residents. Stepping down from this position in 2009 to focus on other not-for-profit duties, Santa Ric is ready to delight each child and touch the heart of every individual he meets.
