About Vendor

Bruce Brymer's Rockit Science is the brainchild of drummer, lead vocalist and songwriter Bruce Brymer. Bruce Brymer has been a fixture in the Bay Area music scene for more than 50 years. Bruce began his career with Bill Champlin. He went on to play with several Bay Area groups including The Pullice and Freedom Highway. He spent two years with Barry Melton and blues legend Michael Bloomfield. In the early 1970s, his group, The Ducks, sold more than 100,000 albums. In addition, Bruce played stints with Big Brother and the Holding Company, Quicksilver Messenger Service, Moby Grape, and Luther Tucker. For more than thirty years Bruce played, off and on, with blues legend Chuck Day. After all the years in the business, Bruce finally decided to bring to volition a grouping of his own tunes. Thus was born the CD, "Living the Legend." This compilation of high energy, soulful tunes, which some say is reminiscent of Steely Dan, has had good reception since its release. Bruce Brymer's Rockit Science also plays a wide array of cover tunes. They are looking for booking in the region and can also accommodate a short notice, weeknight or opening act performances. Rhythm guitarist Jimmy Pasquel hails from Ecuador and is the quintessence of rhythm. His careful and soulful cadence holds together the sound of any song. Jimmy has performed with Ned Endless & the Allniters, Sheldon Lee Cowen as well as his own band This Side Up. Jimmy has also played with Martin Fierro, John Cipollina and Greg Allman. Bassist Rob Moitoza has performed in bands with Kiki Dee, The Sons of Champlin, Cold Blood, Holly Near, Spencer Davis, Jerry Miller, Sam Andrew, Tim Weisberg, Annie Rose and the Thrillers, and many more. He was awarded “Best Bass” by the Washington Blues Society for 2002 2004, and 2008. He was also nominated for “Best new Blues Band” in 2010 with the band Snake Oil Blues Elixer. He has written over a thousand original songs, including Bittersweet Soul Music recorded by Tower of Power. Keyboardist Mark Schuster is a Chicago native. Mark majored in music and performed in High School and College Jazz bands and then spent time in recording studios before moving to the Bay Area. He has performed in a variety of Pop/Rock, Jazz, Blues and Latin groups in Chicago, L.A. and San Francisco and has a passion for all things musical. Lead guitarist Bob Stanley is originally from Boston and now lives in Novato. This self-taught master of the fingerboard has been thrilling listeners for 40 years. Bob has an innate ability to bring any tune to life with lightning fast riffs or soulful refrains. Most recently, Bob has performed with Living Proof and The North Bay Blues Review. Bruce Brymer's Rockit Science would be a great and entertaining act to book in any venue. All members are well-seasoned and professional with the ability to sway any audience. By Paul Liberatore, Marin Independent Journal Bruce Brymer "Living the Legend" This has to be one of the most pleasantly surprising debut albums to land on the Press Play desk in ages. "Living the Legend" is the extraordinary first CD from Bruce Brymer, a rock drummer who's been on the Fairfax music scene for decades. A protege of the late Chuck Day, Brymer isn't generally known as a singer-songwriter, but this album should help remedy that situation. He has come up with a dozen skillfully crafted songs that are smart, funny, topical and loaded with ear-burrowing hooks and choruses. The title track sets the tone, establishing a hip, jazzy, R&B groove that recalls Steely Dan's Donald Fagen. The lyrics comment on Marin County elitism with sly humor that's right on target. Brymer takes a page from Eddie Cochran's "Something Else" on the opening track, "Cigarette," a tune aimed at anyone who still thinks smoking's cool. The funky rocker "I'm More Fun," features sizzling lead guitar work by Sons of Champlin co-founder Terry Haggerty. There isn't a throwaway track on the album. Brymer played drums and keyboards on all the songs, singing in an expressive baritone that he's seasoned and strengthened by years of laboring to be heard over the din of bar bands. He assembled an impressive group of Marin musicians for this project, recorded at the Ice House in San Rafael, Studio 101 and Johnny Colla's studio. The list includes keyboardists Rick Mason and Geoff Palmer; guitarists Mark Moulin, John Mulvey and Terry Haggerty; bassists Audrey Rumburger, Liam Hanrahan and Paul Lamb; and drummers Pete Libby and Jimmy Sagabiel. Among the backup singers were Gail Muldrow, Kathleen Ridley, Jennifer Newall and Cat McLean. Mulvey and Moulin co-produced the sessions with Brymer. "Living the Legend" deserves to be known not only in Marin County, but by music fans everywhere who know a cool record when they hear it. "Living the Legend" can be found on iTunes, Amazon, MP3 and CD Baby.
