JaLi (pronounced Jay-La) is a classy southern soul balladeer with an up-to-date style. JaLi is a short derivative of Jay Fly, a childhood distinction attributed to him by class mates in high school because of his fashionable business attire worn in the coop program.
JaLi was born in Georgia and raised in Alabama. He always loved music, and by the age of 7, he was singing in the church choir.
He was following in the footsteps of many of the R&B legends of the 60s, 70s, 80s, and 90s –
names like Braxton, Price, Boyz2Men, Aretha, Luther, Soul Train, and many others.
“That's how I started … and now I want to be the best composer that God will allow me to be”.
JaLi is the ultimate cross over artist. His lyrics connect to the young, the young at heart, and
anyone who enjoys heartfelt music. He resonates with those who seek love and knows the meaning of love.

“This talented Amazing Guy "JALI"? Has it All
…Style, Class and Damnnnn This Dude can Sing…
"HOLDING U" is Old School With That Today's Flavor R&B...
He is a Born star and the Sweetest Guy you will ever want to know.......”
He's even been called “Whitney's bro; because he bridges the connection between the great singers of the past and present; and he keeps it alive with flavor for all to appreciate.
But it wasn't always easy for JaLi. In High School he was cut by Unkut (a trio he worked with in Phenix City, Alabama).
He soloed for a year, and was more determined than ever to make it with his music.
Then, his friend, Pooh, introduced him to Interscope records, and he moved to Atlanta (and then on to LA) to work with the label, and grow in the music business.
He wanted to be one of the best, so he worked with some of the best, including … Tim & Bob, Lonny Burrell, Eric Dawkins, Tank, Tony Dickerson, Steve of “Troop”, RL of Next, Stevie J from “Badboy”, Denero, Nephew Feemaster, Luke & Q, The Underdogs, Sanchez, Gr&T, Jazzy PHA, Traxx, Tyrese and Baby Face.
He grew as an artist, and as a person during this period. You can hear the excitement of these experiences in his track that talks about some of his musical and life adventures, called Just Like a Movie.
And this track shows that in addition to being a master of neoSoul, JaLi can also bring the Heat (with a driving movie-like-score of Beats). Nice video too. He speaks to the young by blending his hip hop roots with neoSoul R&B.
“ I must say … (my goals) … in this industry are to be the best artist and composer that God would allow me to be. (I hope to be) … successful in opening up doors for other musicians and for people that have great talents; whether it is film, photography, video, management, booking, publicist...etc”.
“Seeing someone less fortunate as myself touches me. Seeing someone hurt, in pain, (going through) the struggles of life, … touches me. (I'm hoping to remind us all) to bring … respect & love for one another. I (I)…see myself as a entrepreneur; young, and well educated. My future plans (include) designing clothes, real-estate, and various types of business ownership, acting, and modeling... I want to do the whole 9. I feel that there is nothing in the world I can't accomplish and become as long as I believe and put my trust and faith in GOD”.
To be able to talk to teenagers and let them know that what is on TV is not reality. It is my obligation to tell young people it is okay to be yourself and have your own individuality. I want to be remembered in life as the guy who helped the less fortunate. I want people to say…Jamie T. Kennell is the most humble guy I have ever known.”
