Soprano Amy Suznovich, is the 2014 recipient of the Deborah Maher Award from The Opera Project and received nominations for the Main Street Theatre Awards for Best Leading Actress as Cunegonde in Candide and Best Female Solo for her performance of Glitter and Be Gay. She most recently sang God Bless America for the Philadelphia Phillies on Sunday, May 10th and was a guest on the radio show Veterans Corner on Wednesday June 3rd singing God Bless America, You'll Never Walk Alone and This Is My Country.
She will be portraying Musetta in Act 2 of La Boheme with the Edward Bogusz and Friends Concert Series on June 14, as well as making her debut in Ischia, Italy.
Ms. Suznovich performed as the Hungarian Opera Singer in Our Town Now at the George Street Playhouse, and originated the roles of Frenchie in A Night in the Wilde Wild West with the Baroque Orchestra of NJ, and Dr. Lipskom in Sephro: Earth's Revenge at the Philadelphia Fringe Festival. Other past performances include: Angelica in Handel's Orlando, the title role in Handel's Rodelinda, Gilda in Rigoletto, Le Rossignol in Ravel's L'enfant et les sortilèges, La Prima Sorella Cercatrice in Suor Angelica, Rosalina in Giordano's Il Re, Stepsister #2 in Warren Martin's True Story of Cinderella, Voce del cielo in Don Carlo and Fiametta/Casilda (cover) in Gondoliers. She has performed with the New Brunswick Chamber Orchestra, Queens Opera (NJ), Opera Siena, Trio@Play and Main Street Theatre, among others.
Honoring her Polish-Hungarian-American heritage, she has performed Hungarian Operetta with the New Brunswick Chamber Orchestra, at the Hungarian Festival in New Brunswick, at the Carousel Ball Gala for the American Hungarian Foundation and collaborated with Csurdongolo, a hungarian folk dance group.
Ms. Suznovich is an alumni of the OperaWorks Winter Intensive and a magna cum laude graduate of Ithaca College. Also active in theater, Amy has portrayed Helena in A Midsummer Night's Dream, Serenity in Mitch Albom's And The Winner Is and Rapunzel in Into the Woods, at the Villagers Theatre in Somerset. She also appeared at the Access Theater (NYC) in When Words Fail as Elizabeth Swan and Helen."
Equally at home singing in stadiums as onstage, Amy has performed the National Anthem and/or God Bless America for the Philadelphia Phillies, the Sky Blue FC Soccer Team (NJ), Long Island Rough Riders Soccer Team (NY), Lake County Captains Baseball (OH), Frederick Keys Baseball (MD) and New Britain Rock Cats Baseball (CT).
