Krista Monique Clouse is a Brazilian-American International award-winning soprano and native of Alexandria, Virginia. Her principle operatic roles include Donna Anna (Don Giovanni); Lucy (The Telephone), Giulietta (The Tales of Hoffmann); and Dido (Dido & Aeneas). She is a 2009 alumna of the Boston University College of Fine Arts, where she received her Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance.
She has performed publicly since the age of 5, when she started singing solos in church. With a sound described by listeners as "golden" and "powerful but finessed", Krista is a delightful addition to any wedding, social or corporate function and guarantees it will be unforgettable!
Krista was thrilled to have been invited to sing an Opera Night for an "Evening of Wine and Italian Opera" at the prestigious Cosmos Club in Washington, DC. In addition to performing the selections on the printed program, she surprised the audience by taking requests. She was accompanied on the piano and in a vocal duet by her wonderful husband, Larry Clouse.
She is currently preparing for several national and international vocal competitions and performances in the United States, Europe and South America in the Spring of 2016; a 2016 Summer Concert Tour in Brazil and a solo concert tour in South Korea and China, tentatively scheduled for the Fall of 2016.
In October of 2013, Krista finished recording her first full-length Christmas album produced by her husband, Larry, titled "Amid the Winter Snow". In 2013, Krista performed several private concerts, including a private concert for United Nations representatives in New York City; a public concert at the Dorchester Center of the Arts in Cambridge, MD and other private and public concerts in Old Town Alexandria, VA, Annapolis and the Greater Washington, DC area.
In January of 2012, Krista won the South Carolina District Metropolitan Opera Competition and went on to become a Southeast Region finalist. In April of 2011, she won 2nd Place at the 10th Concurso Brasileiro de Canto Maria Callas in São Paulo, Brazil, as well as the coveted International Mozart Prize.
In 2010, she became the youngest member of the Evelyn Lear and Thomas Stewart Emerging Singers Program of the Wagner Society of Washington, where she had the great privilege of frequent vocal coaching with Ms. Lear (until her recent passing). She performed in the Emerging Singers Program concert at the German Embassy. She has worked, studied, coached and/or performed with opera singers Evelyn Lear, Claude Corbeil, Jerry Hadley, Michael Ballam, Cynthia Munzer and Simon Estes.
Krista has and continues to perform locally, nationally and internationally in concerts, competitions and recitals throughout the United States, Europe, Asia and South America.
Krista and her husband Larry were thrilled to welcome their first child, Autumn Sophia Clouse, to the world on January 20, 2014.
