With over 175 years combined experience. We have played venues at the Country Music Hall of Fame, in Nashville, President Jimmy Carter, in Plains, Ga, as well as other venues in Florida, Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, Kentucky, North Carolina, and South Carolina. Three of our members are also members of the Atlanta Country Music Hall of Fame. We can play with or without a pa system, as needed. The Bluegrass Sound Band is available for private functions as well as public, including Weddings, picnics, homecomings, company parties, benefits, festivals, reunions, Birthday parties, and many others. We can play with 3 to 6 musicians, depending on your need. Our rates are competitive as well as fair. We cover all decades of great bluegrass music. From the early tunes of the late Bill Monroe, to the Old Crow Medicine Show, Vassar Clemons and Jerry Garcia. We do it all, as we please the audience with our quick wit, funny costumes and general love for the craft. Bio for Jerry Wesley---Jerry has been playing the Fiddle over 50 years. His interest of Bluegrass comes from the fact that
his Uncle, his dad, and his father in law, all are musicians. They all inspired him and he chose the fiddle, where he is excellent at playing it. He joined the Bluegrass Sound Band, in 2013 and has been playing as needed ever since. Jerry is a Master Fiddle player.
Bio for Dane Avery---He started playing music at 6 years old, and he has been playing over 50 years now. He plays the Harmonica, Guitar and Mandolin. He sings lead and harmony. He was inducted into the Atlanta Music Hall of Fame in 2015.
Dane has been married 44 years and has 5 children and 16 grand children he is an Ordained Minister and a retired Pastor. He joined the Bluegrass Sound Band in 2009. He is an excellent musician ans singer and We're happy to have him.
Bio for Herb Vann---Herb has been playing a Bluegrass Banjo , Earl Scruggs style, over 50 years. Herb has 2 children and collects Antique Cars. He has been playing with us since 2005 and doing a great job of it. We are happy to have Herb with us. Herb is in the Atlanta Country Music Hall of Fame.
Bio for Jim Miller---Jim has played the Upright Bass since 2002, and sings. He has been singing or playing music since he was about 14 years old. He also plays the harmonica. He was inducted into the Atlanta Country Music Hall of Fame, Nov., 26, 2016. Jim has been married 27 years. They belong to the Shilo Hills Baptist Church in Kennesaw Ga. Jim has 3 children, and 6 step children and over 20 grandchildren. Jim also started and manages the band.
Eric Gant---Eric has been with the Bluegrass Sound band over 14 years, when needed. He plays the Mandolin, the Stand Up Bass, and the Guitar for our band. He also plays the Piano as well as tunes piano's. He also plays with other bands playing music such as Blues, Funk, Rock n' Roll, Regae, Classic Country and regular Country. He has a CD "Chalice" out and another ready to hit the market soon. He has his own distinctive sound and portrays, integrity and a deep love for the Craft. He has been playing and singing over 30 years. He is an awesome musician and we are very proud he has joined our band.
Bio for Mac Cochran---Mac has been playing the Doboro and Banjo over 50 years. He also is a great singer. He played with the Southern Dogwood, the Dixie Sounds and the Bluegrass Sound Band. He has been with our band 10 years. He has been married 50 years. He is also a Past Master Mason and belongs to Glenrock Baptist Church. He also teaches music.
The Bluegrass Sound Band also has several musicians, who are excellent pickers and singers, but do not have time to be in a band as a regular member, but can and do, play, when one of my regular member can't make it for one reason or another. These musicians are HAND picked and are great musicians. We're happy to have them all on our team. Thanks to them, we are available most any day of the week, any time of day, most any gig.
