Lady J was awesome......here's why.... I was taking my girlfriend to America to celebrate her 21st birthday. It was also to celebrate my 30th birthday which was the week before. We recently found out that we are expecting our first child and I had been thinking about asking her to marry me for some time and now more than ever with everything else going on I thought it would be perfect to ask her on her birthday in New York. I wanted to ask her in an unusual way and deliberated for some time on how to do this. I decided to book an aeroplane to fly over the Hudson River, NY at 4pm on her birthday with the message " Sarah Bowering, I love you, will you marry me? " and as this happened Lady J was to appear and break out in a romantic Whitney tune as I bent down on one knee and popped the question. Well that was the plan. Unfortunately the message broke from the plane before we could see it. I signalled to Lady J that there was a problem and that I would still like her to sing the song but that I would pretend to my girlfriend that I had hired a Limo to take us shopping on 5th Ave for a new dress and then it was to take us to a romantic restaurant, this was to disguise the problem and to not give away that I was going to ask her to marry me. I told her Lady J was there to make to moment special. Lady J was fantastic, she broke out in song as planned and her vocals were fantastic. Normally she would sing to music but where we were this was not possible but still she was more than willing to do this acapella - and I must say, this really helped me hear how excellent she was even without music - that was real talent!!!! Lady J was very attentive in helping me prepare via email as I arranged this from the UK. I contacted several artists who were not as helpful and accommodating as she was and if I ever needed to do the same, she would be my first call. Good news is that I managed to bluff my way out of the situation saying that the Limo simply didn't turn up. When I got back to the hotel there was a message from the pilot explaining the problem, I arranged the flight for the next morning and managed to get her to see the message after all. She was stunned - the only way the moment could have been better was if Lady J had been there again but our memory of these two days will be very special and will last forever.
