Bobby Hicks And The Fiddle Patch Band Bluegrass Band from Marshall, NC

For over 50 years Bobby Hicks has set the standard for fiddlers everywhere through a variety of styles. He reached national prominence in the 1950's with Bill Monroe, recording most of the original instrumentals considered to the bluegrass standards today, such as Roanoke,Wheel Hoss, Big Mon, Cheyenne, Stoney Lonesome and Southern Flavor. In the 1960's and 70's he performed with various country and western bands (most notably The Judy Lynn Show from 1963-1970). For the almost twenty-two years he played with Ricky Skaggs and Kentucky Thunder and Jesse McReynolds and the Virginia Boys as well as guest appearances with various bluegrass acts, such as Earl Scruggs, J.D. Crowe and the New South and The Blue Ridge Symphony. Bobby was also a member of the infamous Bluegrass Album Band, whose recordings are considered by many to be the Bible of Bluegrass. Bobby is the recipient of 5 Grammy's,3 Gold Albums, and as a member of the Ricky Skaggs group, 1 Platinum Album, 8 IBMA awards [including his own for Instrumental Album of the Year, 'Fiddle Patch'] 5 Acadamy of Country Music Awards, and 3 CMA 'Instrumental Group of the Year' Awards.In September 2004, he celebrated 50 years of appearances on the Grand Ole Opry, making him one of the longest instrumentalists to work at the 'Mother Church of Country Music'. Bobby continues his traditional bluegrass and western swing sound with his group The Fiddle Patch Band, consisting of award winning instrumentalist/harmony volcalists on mandolin, banjo, guitar and bass.
