We play Motown and Soul Music for your dancing and listening pleasure. Fronted by blued-eyed soul man, the Sam "Muleman" Miller on vocals and guitar, this group provides the highest level of musicianship and professionalism for your entertainment needs. The band also features Jim Orr on keyboards, Jeff Muller on bass and Lamont Cranston on Drums and has well over 100 years of collective onstage experience. The lineup can be augmented with horns for larger budget occasions. Our repertoire also includes lots of Rock and Blues along with Jazz and standards for dinner sets.
SAM MILLER – Guitar and Vocals
Sammy 'Muleman' Miller, a blue-eyed soul singer with a screamin' guitar, originally hails from Tampa, Florida. Growing up in the South, he was influenced by Rhythm & Blues and Country Music. Inspired by the music of B.B. King and Hank Williams, he mixes many musical flavors to create his own 'Southern Fried' recipe. Sam has performed with The Big Dog Band, Big Cam and the Lifters, his own Muleman Band and many others. Sam and Jim Orr started Little Sammy and Soulification in 2013 with Jeff Muller to focus on the great Motown and R&B songbook.
JIM ORR – Keyboards and Vocals
Jim has been playing piano for forty years and has studied music at Purdue University and Harford Community College. He has played extensively in the Mid-Atlantic region as a member of groups such as The Persuaders (which he founded in 1988 and is still active), The Bossa Brothers, The Pan American Rhythm Project, The Samba Bossa Four, Root Boy Slim, Fat Tuesday, The James Offie Band and Freewater. He has shared the stage with Bo Diddley, Buddy Guy, Albert Collins, Chuck Mangione, The English Beat, The Radiators, and The Nighthawks and presented "The 90s Swing Revival" a lecture and performance at Johns Hopkins University in 1999.
JEFF MULLER – Bass and Vocals
Jeff began his musical journey at a young age as one of the earliest Elvis impersonators. He co-founded the Dirty City Band, and worked with The Persuaders, The Bossa Brothers, The Basement Band, The Pan American Project, Meg Murray, Eva Cassidy, Rich Chorne', Linwood Battle, and August West among others in the Annapolis area. In1997 Jeff released his solo CD Jes Grew featuring a who's who of prominent local players. While living in New Orleans, Jeff performed at festivals around the country and in Europe. He also performed with Allen Toussaint, Cryil Neville, Ernie K-Doe plus a slew of talented but less familiar names.
LAMONT CRANSTON - Drums and Percussion
Lamont has worked in publishing, radio and the movies, Lamont now drums with the Little Sammy and Soulification. Further details of his career are shadowy. His groove oriented drumming is an important ingredient in Little Sammy and Soulification's sound.
