We are Mariachi Alma de Tejas, Austin's only PREMIER student-run mariachi! From the practice rooms of Butler School of Music, Mariachi Alma de Tejas was born with the intention of bringing Austin traditional mariachi music with a taste of Texas flare! Looking to break it down to La Bamba but want your event to end with The Eyes of Texas? We've got you covered! Looking to serenade a loved one with Gema but then wanna cheer them up to Deep In The Heart of Texas? We've got you covered! We have played for various events in Austin, ranging from the Trail of Lights, UT Elementary World Week, a multitude of weddings, and many more! Although young, we here at Mariachi Alma de Tejas can guarantee you a night to remember! What to Expect: Professionalism. Here at Alma de Tejas, we know how stressful event planning can be. We make sure every person is handled just right and we cater to every client's individual needs. We don't let pricing, distance, or even language barriers (Hablamos espanol!) prevent us from giving you a taste of Austin's Premier student-run Mariachi! Constant communication. We strive to make sure this is of the utmost priority to ensure that every event goes as smoothly as possible. About: Juan Francisco Lira is the current director of Mariachi Alma de Tejas. Founded May 2017, Juan had a vision to direct Austin's first premier student-run mariachi. With the guidance of Jorge Vargas, Ezekiel Castro, and Adolph Ortiz, Juan set off to do just that! From humble beginnings, Alma de Tejas began with 2 violin players, 1 guitarron, 1 vihuela, 1 guitar, and no trumpet players! Now, Alma de Tejas has 4 violin players, 3 trumpets, 1 guitarron, 1 vihuela, and 1 guitar player and continues to grow! Juan F. Lira is currently a senior Neuroscience major with a minor in Business. He plays to one day own the best mariachi in Texas!
