THE DETAILED LONG DESCRIPTION:
Jacques is a full-time consulting engineering geologist and part-time professional magician. In addition to a BSc in geology/math/physics from Brown University, Jacques has a Masters from Rice University, so he is a macrobiotic geologist... Brown-Rice? Get it? During his years at Brown, Jacques was the captain of the Ultimate Frisbee team, and did other stuff to annoy his parents. Jacques has been performing magic since he was 18. As a consultant he has been blowing smoke since he was 26. In some cases his magic integrates fossils, rocks, crystals, and gem minerals into the routines. This is because his wife is sick of all those rocks cluttering the house. Jacques is happy doing strolling and close-up magic, as well as parlor magic, or convention-booth magic. He loves creating a 1-on-1 relationship with his audience, and makes the time together memorable and innervating (look it up; it isn't dirty). He can perform for you in Los Angeles Co, Orange Co, as well as in San Diego. Please read the client feedback for Jacques; he has more feedback than the other top San Diego magicians combined (which only means his clients are moved to say something. My peers are great magicians!).
Jacques is professional, reliable, experienced, well traveled, multi-lingual, parent to four children, and passionate about being a pleasure to his audience. He does not pick his nose. Jacques is your choice for informative, interactive, uplifting magical entertainment. Jacques is educated beyond his intelligence and he wants to prove it to you!
Interviewer: Do you treat children differently than adults?
Jacques: Absolutely. Adults are easier to fool and sometimes they drink, which helps. Children are sober, bright, direct, and unencumbered by a lifetime of opinions and dogmatic beliefs. Thank
goodness they enjoy imagination and wonder or I'd be toast.
Interviewer: Who is Phonee Robbins?
Jacques: Phonee is a character I created who gives spoof motivational presentations or talks mixed with magic. His first address was to the City of San Diego's Engineering Division. Phonee Robbins gave a speech to 120+ (depressed and pension-focused) city employees that was funny, believable, entertaining, and yet uplifting because within the humor was the idea that if we do what we love, the taxes will follow. If Phonee can motivate City of San Diego employees, imagine what he can do for your audience!
Interviewer: Who is Professor Bunkminster Fullovitt?
Jacques: Dr. Fullovitt, or Bunky to his friends, is the Dean of Pigpimples Correspondence School of Magic and my teacher in all things prestidigitory. I demonstrate some of the lessons he teaches at Pigpimples.
Interviewer: Why do your rates fluctuate?
Jacques: Because I look at each event and each client's budget and I price according to the VALUE that I provide. Or I see how much I owe the credit card folks this week and bid accordingly. Crazy, huh?
Interviewer: Don't quit your day job.
Interviewer: Do you make rabbits or doves appear?
Jacques: For me animals are pets, not props, and with four children, two cats, a dog, and my wife, I have enough responsibilities. But people want to see the magician do magic with animals, so I have some 'puppets' that I use and most people enjoy them just as much. Plus, I have no vet bills, no pet food, and no 'meadow muffins' to clean up! IF you HAVE to have a live animal, get Dazzling Diane. Uh, I mean, Diane is not a live animal, but she has a rabbit and a cockatoo, and I think she's terrific.
Interviewer: Why do you go by your name only? Why not be 'The Amazing Jacques,' 'Jacques P. Lord, Wizard' or 'Jacques the Totally Gnarly?'
Jacques: Because that would be redundant. On occasion I have performed as Prince Rarasis Boombah from Cairo (Illinois). Get it? Ra Ra Sis Boom Bah?? Alright, this interview's over.....
