This project starts with piano or guitar/voice and builds us to a full 12 piece funky band with horns depending on entertainment needs and budget. The Best Kept Secret is out! Continuing in the tradition of the celebrated soulful family sound is Druscilla Abernathy & The BKS Vine. The Vine tastefully weaves classic R 7 B, Jazz, Gospel, and funk with contemporary flavor of neo soul, pop, latin, and original compositions. The result is a spiritually-driven, genuine sound that is food for any soul. The sould is fed through the ruthless vocal blen of Kathleen Johnson, a.k.a. Druscilla, Michelle Carter, Shayde, and Brandon Hess. Whether solo or ensemble, each serves up s full spectrum of sound, from songbird clarity to gritty spontaneity and every truth in between. The band comes full circle with long-time collaborator Todd Burrell on piano, Jordan Carlson on Drums, Blair Krivanek on guitar Art Haynes or Serge Aku on Bass. Collectively, The BKS Vine have carved out careers working with artists such as Prince, Carmen Electra, Billy Holloman, Nachito Herera, Alexander O'Neal, Lori Line, Billy McLaughlin, Artist Keri Noble, The Petersons, and The Steeles. Locally they can e heard fattening up the sounds of Twin Cities bands Soul Tight Committe, R Factor, Synergy, Les Exodus, Said Method, and High 7 Mighty. the Vine has performed in countless Twin Cities music venues,s uch as THE DAKOTA, BUNKER'S, MINNESOTA MUSIC CAFE, FAMOUS DAVE'S, THE CUE AT THE GUTHRIE THEATER and generously contributed its message to numberous philanthropic events.
