Miiko Anderson is a top prosecutor turned speaker and consultant who uses the skills that help her win in the courtroom, to help others win in life. Ms. Anderson is a Certified Criminal Specialist ,Former Senior Prosecuting Attorney and international subject matter expert on gender based violent crime. As a specialty unit prosecutor, she prosecuted Gang, Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault, and Human Trafficking Cases. She has taken complex cases to jury trial and gained convictions and lengthy sentences on some of her jurisdiction's most violent offenders. In April 2023, Miiko Anderson received a Congressional Award for her tireless efforts and committment to public service. However, Miiko's road to success was littered with obstacles. Miiko grew up in a high-crime, drug-infested area in Oakland, CA. She was born to a teenage mother who battled substance abuse throughout Miiko’s entire childhood. ? In her early 20’s Miiko found herself in a bad marriage with two small children and an insufficient education. She decided things had to change. She went back to college and ultimately attended law school. ? While in Law School, she dealt with homelessness, single parenting, and the instability of living on public assistance. However, in school, she excelled. She was repeatedly on the Dean’s list and received multiple awards for her academic achievements. Upon graduating and passing the bar, Miiko immediately began her career as a Prosecutor. Black female attorneys comprise approximately two percent of all attorneys and the number is even less for black female prosecutors. That's not factoring in Miiko 's "unique" personal background. Despite the glaring need for diversity in the legal profession, the struggles with imposter syndrome and other limiting beliefs, Miiko was able to succeed. She earned a reputation as a highly-skilled trial attorney and received multiple awards as a result. She made the mental shift. Miiko is no stranger to adversity and overcoming what may "in the moment" seem like an insurmountable challenge. Miiko speaks from experience, both personally and professionally.
