Pianist/vocalist specializing in jazz standards, pop favorites, and original compositions designed to bring class and a sophisticated ambiance to your event. Bruce Bergh brings an excellent balance of jazz harmonies and melodic richness to your environment, and will customize his set list to include your choice of balance between solo piano, vocal & piano, or the addition of pre-recorded bass & drums to the mix of the above. Bergh understands that some events require lower volumes to allow guests to converse, but has the capacity to increase the volume levels to allow dancing and audience participation.
Bergh began touring at the age 23, and has performed in every state in the US, as well as hosted several musical events throughout the Caribbean. While representing several high profile music technology firms, Bergh has had the opportunity to work with Bob Moog, Ray Kurzweil, Stevie Wonder, Manhattan Transfer, Ray Charles, Floyd Cramer, Kenny Rogers, Take 6, Boys 2 Men, Kansas, and many other famous names.
Some of Bergh's earlier career highlights include playing organ for the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field, being the official organist for Hillside Theater while in High School, being the on-call pianist/vocalist for Willow Creek Community Chapel events, and leading worship and performing in many top churches, theaters and convention centers across the United States.
Bergh studied at Sherwood Music School and the University of Chicago, and has written hundreds of songs, commercial music and jingles, as well as arranged music for a large number of clients through the years at his three recording studios. As a professor of Music Technology, Bergh taught in four universities, done clinician work for MTNA, MENC, and NAMM conventions, and founded The Bergh Institute of Music Technology in 1999.
Bergh joined forces with the Chicago based band “Midnight” in 2012. With their diverse horn section, they perform danceable covers of Classic Rock, R&B, Motown, Swing and other genres from the Billboard Top 40. From Glen Miller to Chicago to The Tower of Power; from the 1940's through today.
Bruce Bergh's Valentines Day 2014 CD release, “Night Life”, is a collection of original “Romantic Harmonies from the Big City”, written between 2011-13 as a nightlife entertainer in some of Chicago's finest dining establishments. Bergh performs with piano and vocal stylings with several tracks being augmented by full orchestra & horns in the Jazz Vocal genre. As a composer, Bergh strives for memorable melody lines accompanied by jazz harmonizations and a positive message. MP3 downloads are now available!
Bruce Bergh's 2013 re-release of the “Christmas Time of the Year” CD is available on Google Play, iTunes and RadioAirplay (Jango) for downloading, as two new TV movies featured his music during the 2013 holiday season.
