Liata is a cosmopolitan quartet in the vein of Pink Martini and Paris Combo. We offer a stylish and passionate blend of vocals, piano, classical guitar, violin, mandolin, flute, accordion, and other multi-cultural instrumentation. Reviewers have described us as "earthy and elegant," "the modern voice of passion" and "old wine in new bottles." What do we play? Fast stuff and slow stuff in English, Spanish, and many languages (French, Italian, Russian too) with many different instruments. Romantic ballads; jazz and old movie standards with a fresh, romantic flair. Latin standards. Traditional opera and sacred works by classically-trained mezzo soprano lead vocalist Rosanna D'Agnillo & violinst MarlaJoy W. Rubin for ceremony needs. Liata's 2004 album, Sensations, made its debut ranking in the top 1000 on and is receiving international airplay. Liata was also heard on the soundtrack to Sony Pictures "Joan of Arcadia". Liata enjoys a devoted following on the festival circuit.
