Originally from Missouri, Robert Banks began his bass guitar career playing in church bands captivating his first audience, the congregation of his church. Upon moving to Wichita, Kansas, he developed his skills on the 7-String Bass, inspired by urban jazz innovations from both coasts.
Now an Oklahoma City resident, Mr. Banks is one of the hottest bass players around, with a stage presence and performance energy that is second to none, and his performance is molded to perfection. Simply put, he is one of the hottest bass guitarists in the U.S. The jazz world has acclaimed him alongside the late bassists Stanley Clark and Wayman Tisdale for his rhythmic and melodic style.
In 2011, OurStage name Robert Banks to its Top 40 in Jazz, May, 2011. Robert was also named the Ernie Ball Jazz Channel Winner, August, 2011. He has shared stages and studios with Wayman Tisdale, Najee, Kirk Franklin, Zapp and Roger and many other legendary artists.
Mr. Banks has played in the Juneteenth Festivals in Oklahoma City, OK, Tulsa, OK and Ft. Smith, AK. He also opened up for the Jazz Festival in North Carolina. He opened for Najee and his Band at the Charlie Christian International Blues Festival in Oklahoma City, OK.
In addition to his passion for music, Mr. Banks has a love for youth. He has begun a work within his community working with youth and bringing music to life through the work of his studio “Positive Productions.” of which he is the visionary, and Keep It Classy Entertainment, LLC., an entertainment and events organization.
Robert has established his own full band along with singers for a bigger entertainment production and has performed in many venues including private functions, banquets, casinos, Masquerade events, New Year's parties along with Birthdays, Anniversaries and Weddings.
