MIREPOIX Jazz Band from Colorado Springs, CO

"MIREPOIX" is a jazz group out of Colorado Springs, Colorado. The band plays a jazz/swing/contemporary jazz/funky jazz mixture of music. MIREPOIX focuses on the event as to which type of jazz they concentrate on for the night. For example, if the band gets hired to play a very formal jazz gig we would focus more on straight ahead older standards by such artists as Coltrane, Getz, Davis. Conversely, if the band were hired to play a casual party where dancing may occur, we would lean into some Ramsey Lewis, Grover Washington or Herbie Mann. The band also has a lead vocalist, Todd Yuill. Todd, who is also the keyboardist for the band, will amaze you with his vocals! The band is experienced! Kenny Johnston, the founder,leader and sax player for the group, led his band to winning Denver, Colorado's KHIH Smooth Jazz Band of the Year 2000! Kenny has also been voted "Favorite Horn" player 2016 by the Colorado Blues Society. With three original albums, Kenny loves music and performing! The other members of the band have many years of professional experience also.
