James Gordon Williams Band was the best Jazz band that we have seen in Vermont outside of the Buena Vista Social Club. Every member of the band were excellent musicians. James was great with me during the planning process and great communication throughout. We have friends that were at the wedding that will want to book the band in the future.
I am a trumpet player and know music very well and James Gordon Williams exceeded my expectations in every aspect.

James Gordon Williams and the rest of the trio were great. The music was straight out of the Village Vanguard. The musicians were professional, personable and considerate. They made the party one that even we, the hosts, were able to enjoy--not always easy!

The James Gordon Williams Ensemble played at my husband's surprise 40th birthday party. First, in the months leading up to the party, James Williams himself was a pleasure to work with. He was available at all hours by email and telephone, and he responded promptly and reassuringly to all of my questions. And then, when the party rolled around, the Ensemble was superb. Their music was the ideal accompaniment to my event, and the musicians themselves looked professional and presentable. We had 50 people ranging in age from 30 to 80 all gathered in a private party room. The Ensemble played just the right blend of slow tempo and upbeat jazz and swing selections in keeping with the rhythm of the party -- whether the crowd was mingling casually or toasts were being made or presents opened. Additionally, when the air conditioning failed for one hour in the middle of the party, the Ensemble went with the flow and did not allow this disruption to blow their concentration or their efforts at making the party proceed as seamlessly as possible. I would recommend the James Gordon Williams Ensemble to anyone interested in hearing wonderful jazz and swing music at any type of event, and I hope to have occasions to call on them again in the future.
