Queen of Crossover!
My musical comrades have dubbed me The Queen of Crossover because I can comfortably sing nearly every genre and style of music – except classical, metal, and rap.
I've performed in a myriad of situations and venues (cruise ships, concert halls, lounges, resorts) as a singer, dancer and actor. Highlights include performing for Michael Jackson, and opening for Al Jarreau and Patti Austin. My vocal talents also encompass radio, television, and voice over work.
Some of the artists in my repertoire include Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Dusty Springfield, Janis Joplin, Anita Baker, Jill Scott, Astrud Gilberto, Fleetwood Mac, Tracy Chapman, Earth-Wind-and-Fire, Bob Marley, The Eagles, Aretha Franklin, Katy Perry, Taylor Swift, kd lang, Marvin Gaye, and more.
I offer several options for my prospective clients.
A. Solo - Me, accompanying myself on keyboards, or by using pre-recorded tracks
B. Duo - Vocals (Me) + pianist or guitar
C. Trio - Vocals (Me) + pianist/guitar + drums/percussion
D. Quartet - Vocals (Me) + pianist/guitar, drums/percussion + bass
E. Quintet - Vocals (Me) + Piano, guitar/saxophone, drums/percussion, bass
Need a special song or two for a special occasion but it's not something I currently perform? No worres. I can do that!
I also have several musical themed-shows (cabaret) that I can offer for those that would like music presented with a more theatrical flair. The shows and descriptions are as follows:
Songs of Protest, Songs of Peace: Songs from Civil Rights Movements throughout the African Diaspora:
Through songs such as Follow the Drinking Gourd, American Skin, and Redemption Song, the struggle for civil rights and justice throughout the African Diaspora is conveyed through music.
Songs of Protest, Songs of Peace: Songs of Women's Struggle for Empowerment and Equality - Through songs as Only Women Bleed, If You Loved Yourself, and Behind the Wall, singer/songwriter and performing artist Deletta Gillespie presents songs that tell of the struggle for civil rights and justice for women worldwide.
Both of the above-mentioned shows require accompaniment keys/guitar, piano, and drums/percussion.
