Big Bang Jazz Band Jazz Band from Washington, DC

The Big Bang Jazz Band is dedicated to playing big band jazz. We find our inspiration in the music of Buddy Rich, Maynard Ferguson, Count Basie, Don Ellis, Stan Kenton, and Gordon Goodwin. We also will play original arrangements from the Golden Era of Swing from the greats such as Benny Goodman and Artie Shaw. We aim to play the refreshing sounds of the 1940's and 50's by playing songs beyond the 25-30 swing charts that every band plays. We'll play beautiful ballads and screaming jump tunes that you've probably never heard from the late 30's through the early 50's. Then we move into the modern big band style of Buddy Rich, Count Basie, and Maynard Ferguson who kept the big band relevant with innovative arrangements of contemporary tunes. Finally, moving into the 21st Century with the virtuosic music of bands such as Gordon Goodwind from the LA music scene. We are ready to play wedding receptions, veteran's reunions, fund raisers, swing dances, and other events.
