All That Jazz is a professional acoustic swing/jazz group performing standards (blues, swing, tin-pan alley), bebop, ballads, New Orleans style, Latin tunes, Gershwin, Cole Porter, Sinatra, etc., all for listening and for dancing. Our travel range is from Ft. Myers to Bradenton, we are the house band at Cassariano Italian Eatery in Venice, Florida, playing every Sunday evening from 6-9 pm.
All That Jazz is a quintet (piano, sax, trumpet, drums, bass), but we can provide a sextet, a quartet, a jazz trio or even a duo. Just inquire. With over 100 years combined playing experience, we bring an exciting musical experience, perfect for restaurants, bistros and clubs. We have a wide repertoire and take requests.
Leader of All That Jazz is James Williams (piano and vocals), who played professionally for many years the San Francisco Bay Area and now on Florida's Gulf Coast. Bob Miner, saxophone, is a polished jazz player from New Mexico, Virginia and now in Florida. Joe Bruno is a journeyman trumpet and fluglehorn player, was the house band leader during the sixties and seventies at Boston's Parker House and later at the 20th Century Holiday International Hotel in Las Vegas. Joe Bruno, Jr. is an accomplished bass player from Sarasota, who has played with many blues, rock, jazz and traditional jazz groups. Rick Costa is a solid drummer who recently moved to Venice from the Boston area, where he played for many years. Dominik Teyke began his career as a jazz drummer in Germany and now makes his home in Sarasota, and he alternates gigs with Shawn Doolittle another outstanding Sarasota-based jazz drummer. Isaac Mingus is our second bass player, and a young man of extraordinary talent.
Other musicians also join us on occasion or substitute for our regulars if necessary, such as John DeWitt and Bruce Wallace (bass), Jack Keeling and Harley Sommerfeld (saxophone, clarinet, flute), Dominik Teyke and Shawn Doolittle (drums).
Our standard dress for a gig is Hawaiian style shirts and slacks, for more formal occasions a coat and tie, for casual, outdoor gigs, nice shirts and shorts. Let us know what you prefer.
If your venue has an acoustic piano, we would be pleased to use it; however, if that is not available, we will bring our own electric keyboard along with all other equipment. We do not have stage lighting. Our set-up space for the quartet is approximately 12' X 8'; a little larger for a quintet or sextet. Need electrical. For outdoor performances a well-shaded location.
