Music has the power to transport us to another time and place. Colin McCahill Quartet loves to harness that power through captivating jazz melodies and improvisations alike. Ever since a young age, Colin McCahill has found great joy and satisfaction in making music and sharing it with friends, family, patrons, and music listeners all over the Midwest. Inspired by many, marginalized by none, Colin McCahill Quartet delivers a truly unique sound one will not want to miss.
Although the Colin McCahill quartet is relatively new to GigMasters, we have played quite a few events especially during the weekends and during the summer. We have played two weddings, farmer's markets throughout West Michigan, featured concerts at John Collins Park, events for schools like Grand Valley, private parties, fundraisers, and restaurants.
We are able to play at a whisper for private parties and smaller events and we can play at a roar for larger venues and outdoor events.
We have a guitar, bass, drums, and saxophone (Colin McCahill). We mainly play jazz standards best which include: blues, latin tunes, and ballads with artists of the songs being people like Frank Sinatra, Duke Ellington, Miles Davis, Charlie Parker, John Coltrane, Thelonious Monk. Occasionally we will mix in a well-known funk tune (James Brown), pop-tune (Bruno Mars), or rock cover (Led Zepellin, The Champs, Van Morrison). If you do contact us, let us know if there is a certain style you would like us to play more of.
Colin McCahill, the bandleader, grew up and went to East Grand Rapids High School. He currently studies jazz music at Oberlin College. The Colin McCahill Quartet therefore resides in Oberlin, Ohio for the months September-December and February-May. They are in West Michigan December, January and May-August.
For the concert all we need is an electric outlet for the bass and guitar.
