Spirited Lads Irish Band from Phoenix, AZ

An authentic musical taste of Ireland. The Spirited Lads add a touch of Green to any event. The band consists of Irish & Irish American musicians and singers who live in Phoenix, AZ The Band: Dublin native and singer / banjo player Dave McDerry who spent many years entertaining crowds in the world famous Temple Bar Pub in Dublin, Ireland before his move to the US. Dave has shared the stage with members of renowned Irish bands such as the Wolfe Tones, the Fureys and the Young Dubliners. The big guy playing the tiny mandolin is Tim, who hails from California. Tim played in various rock bands before getting into Irish music to explore his Musical heritage of his ancestors. The beardy one is Jim, a native Arizonan. Jim traded the saxophone for the Irish flute and whistle. He claims he is renowned for his crisp vocal harmonies and we don't disagree! On lead and rhythm guitar we have Albie D. Albie is easily recognizable on stage due to the stylish derby hat that he sports while rocking out with the lads. And last but by no means least we have Papa 'the legend' John on bass. John is a big fan of the sailing themed songs as it reminds him of the years he spent on a longliner as a shark fisherman. The lads are often joined by fiddle playing extraordinaire Heide Hille, who is a well known Irish and Country music player. All the well known and loved Irish ballads are included in their reportoire and also a selection of lively jigs and reels to get the audience out of their seats and onto the dance floor. A Spirited Lad show is a fun, lively and above all an interactive musical experience - At our shows we are not there to sing at you, we are there to sing with you!
