Aloha and Howdy!! We bring Aloha to your event, Texas Style. All the Hula Honeys are Texas ladies that have been trained by dance ethnologist Nacheska who studied with her Kuma Hula in Hawaii. We have several show formats. One is a comparison of 2 great states Texas and Hawaii, their similarities and differences. The other is a beautiful tour of the history and dance of the Polynesian triangle.(the islands of Hawaii, New Zealand and Tahiti) Nacheska explains the rich history of Hula while demonstrating and teaching the hula at your event. We can do dances beginning with auana (modern) Hulas and later in the show visit ancient Hawaii.(Kahiko) The tour guide is Nacheska who explains the Hula (meaning “dance” in the lovely Hawaiian language) your guests will tour Hawaii (from the comfort of their seat) and the dances, the rich history, and stories behind the dancing that they are viewing. After we do two or three dances, we bring the Wahini’s (ladies/girls) up for a dance and teach while volunteers in the audience play Puili Sticks (a simple musical instrument that we hand out) during their on stage class. I move to a Kalohe (comedy) piece which is funny. Then we are on to ancient Hawaii where we visit a dance style and stories that have been handed down through history of the islands. I do several Kahiko (ancient) hulas. Next is a visit to Tahiti, talking about the difference in costuming and dance movements. We tell the story (Mele) of the dance we perform and after that bring the Kane's (men) up from the audience for the Tahitian War Dance (aparima) ….very fun and funny and a great finish to the show. This show is also great for a business club meeting where there is audience participation...the women could learn Hula, while the men could learn some Tahitian.
At this time there are 5 of us and we perform as we are available. We would love to bring Aloha Texas Style to your event!
Our daytime children parties are more teaching and fun and cost a bit less than a full blown performance. Children love to learn the Hula and we bring great fun to your child's party with instruments, fun dance and games.
For our older clients, we do give discounts to nursing homes and senior facilities. These folks remember when Hawaii became a state and have lots of memories of Hawaii that we bring to life.
These ladies are joyous dancers that study their craft with diligence and will make your next event shine! They wear several costumes from the modern grass skirt to the traditional Pa'u skirt and tops. We can customize your event as needed but our normal show is one hour.
We have done hundreds of bookings over the years in the Dallas/Fort Worth, Waco, Austin, and surrounding cities performing, teaching and sharing ALOHA with all who see and know us. (so ask for references or visit the reference page on our site)*We do have access to light or fire spinners for your event...these folks charge an extra fee and we can contact and add them to our quote...Mahalo
