David is part of a new generation of classical guitarists who embrace the rigors of classical study along with the stylistic variety that is part of the instrument's heritage and character. Styles as diverse as folk, jazz, rock and classical have brought him to venues as diverse as the eminent Red Rocks Amphitheatre, the top Denver jazz club "Dazzle" and the cozy settings of coffee houses throughout the metro area.
An early love for Paul Simon inspired David to pursue his song-writing craft, while an abiding love for his instrument led to serious classical study. David received a B. A. in guitar performance from Colorado Christian University, and is currently working on his Masters in performance at the University of Denver.
In addition to performing, David has been teaching guitar for 6 years and writing since he can remember.
David often performs with his wife and professional vocalist and flautist Chelsea de la Cuadra. Chelsea has always been a performer, back to the days of her childhood when her favorite hobbies included singing in talent shows and performing scenes from movies and musicals for family videos. As Chelsea grew up, she found she could channel her musical creativity through many styles and settings. She performed with the Colorado All-State Choir in 2003 and 2004, the Adams-State Honor Choir in 2004 as well as the top chamber and jazz choirs at her school in Colorado Springs.
She has been cast in many music theater shows; some of her favorite roles include Hodel in Fiddler on the Roof, Sally Brown in You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown, Ronette in Little Shop of Horrors, Sarah Brown in Guys and Dolls, Carrie in Carousel, and Annie Oakley in Annie, Get Your Gun. Chelsea graduated from Colorado Christian University with a Vocal Performance degree. She is an active musician in the Denver area, performing with the Elevation Jazz Orchestra, jazz combos, choirs, and as a soloist.
Chelsea has been playing flute for 10 years, playing in her University’s wind ensemble through college and performing at weddings around Denver.
In the past 3 years David and Chelsea have become wedding specialists, performing at dozens of weddings annually and bringing the professionalism, passion and flexibility they have become known for.
