Folk singer/guitarist Jan Marie Bacon brings a unique combination of nostalgia and comedy to your event. Specializing in folk music from the 60's and 70's as well as Broadway hits, Jan Marie also writes parodies and does comedy numbers by Allen Sherman and the Smothers Brothers. She has given a number of solo concerts in midcoast Maine, opened for Gordon Bok in 2006 and recently released her first CD (just e-mail or call Jan to buy one). She is available for weddings, solo concerts as fundraisers, private parties or any other event you want to add that special spark to. WeddingReviewed on September 21, 2007From Brooks, ME

Jan Marie was a great performer and a wonderful person to work with. She and Phil, her husband/manager, were excellent at contact and follow-up to make sure that we all had a good understanding of how the event (our wedding) would proceed. Jan Marie was very patient in giving us up until practically the last minute to make decisions about songs, and she learned and performed songs for us on request - no extra charge! Both Jan Marie and Phil approached their jobs with humor and grace. And the bottom line: Jan Marie has a beautiful voice and great repertoire of songs. Great to know that live local talent is just an hour or two away! Heather and Dave, Monroe ME

Birthday Party (Adult)Reviewed on July 14, 2007From Newburyport, MA

Jan Marie Bacon made the 50th surprise birthday party I hosted a huge success. I had a bit of anxiety as I’ve never planned an event of this magnitude before. She and her husband (manager) made the entire process easy from the initial booking to the end. They are two of the nicest people I've ever met. They arrived well over an hour early as opposed to the caterer who was 40 minutes late. They mingled with the guests and waited patiently until her scheduled time. By that time she was more like a friend then someone I hired. Her voice is very sweet but also strong and powerful. Her song list is incredibly diverse and she even sang a few songs that were special to the Birthday girl but not on her song list. She was more than accommodating. I wasn't sure how the crowd would react because there were approx 10 kids as well as 50 adults and it was held at a huge park with lots of distractions. I thought maybe she would be background music which would have been fine but she was so captivating my guests were totally engaged. We clapped to the music and some of us tried to sing along. It was a blast and my guests thoroughly enjoyed her. I believe she could play to any crowd. Not only is she very talented but she’s very relaxed and incorporates humor in her sets. She also does parodies that are a hoot. If you’re planning an event and don’t want to worry about any glitches with the entertainment trust me and hire Jan.
