Jeanine Owen's artistic career began at Disney theme parks in Orlando, Tokyo, and Paris. Working as an artist demonstrator, she became sought after for her portraits and Silhouettes, and has been working as a professional portrait-silhouette artist, painter, demonstrator, and glass artist since 1984. She has studied with master artists around the world, most recently classical oil painting portraiture at the school of Visual Arts in NYC. During her travels she worked in artistic locations such as Montmarte and Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris, Fanueil Hall in Boston, Tokyo Disneyland in Japan , and Historic St. Augustine, Florida.
Her glass art has been published in books, blogs, and sold in prestigious galleries and museum stores from NYC's American Craft Museum, Wheaton Arts and Cultural Center, to demonstrating the creation of miniature Minnie & Micky glass figurines at Euro Disney park in France. She earned a degree in scientific glassblowing in 1994 and has studied and worked with master glass artists, her specialty of course, portraits in glass.
Throughout her life she has returned to the antique art of Silhouette portraits, creating classic keepsake Silhouettes, in Paris, Tokyo, Boston, St. Augustine, and various tourist attractions and events. She is known for the quality of her work, capturing not only a likeness but often a personality. With attention to the smallest details, from paper & scissors, memories are made to last.
Jeanine is honest, dependable, and professional, although a silhouette is created in minutes, it has been approx 30 years of practice that has developed the talent to make Silhouette cutting appear easy and give clients a keepsake to treasure. She takes time and care with every unique shadow, exhibiting a fine eye for detail, which is reflected in the approval of those who watch her work.
Jeanine's current work location is on St. George st, in St. Augustine's historic Colonial Quarter in NE Florida, where she creates silhouette keepsakes in an 18th century style.
