Rabbi Pini Dunner was born in London, UK. He grew up in a family of notable public personalities. His father, Aba Dunner, was renowned for his work on behalf of European Jewry. His distinguished grandfather, Rabbi Josef Hirsch Dunner, was the last Chief Rabbi of East Prussia before World War II, escaped Nazi Germany just before the Holocaust, and became one of postwar-Britain's most respected religious leaders.
Rabbi Pini Dunner attended rabbinical seminaries in Gateshead UK, Baltimore USA, and Jerusalem, Israel, and was ordained as an orthodox rabbi in 1992. That same year he enrolled at University College London, where he majored with distinction in Jewish History and Classical Hebrew.
In the early 1990s Rabbi Dunner served as the assistant rabbi at Moscow Choral Synagogue, where he initiated groundbreaking projects for Jewish youth just as Russia was emerging out of the Soviet Union. In 1996, Rabbi Dunner took over London's only Jewish radio program. Under his direction, the two-hour daily talk-show became famous for groundbreaking interviews with leading British and Israeli politicians, and famous celebrities from all over the world. In 1998, Rabbi Dunner was invited to set up and lead a trailblazing synagogue, called The Saatchi Synagogue, in trendy West London. "The Saatchi", as it became known, would soon become a magnet for single postgraduate professional Jews, and Rabbi Dunner's charismatic style quickly became known across the world, picked up by local and international newspapers and TV, where he appeared frequently.
In the Summer of 2011 Rabbi Dunner moved to Los Angeles to take up a senior faculty position at the Yeshiva University High Schools of Los Angeles. In 2013, the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) recognized Rabbi Dunner's extraordinary work in promoting pro-Israel activism among teens, and presented him with their "Ally of the Year" award for being "a shining example of what a campus professional can mean to an entire school." Soon afterwards, Rabbi Dunner was appointed senior rabbi at Beverly Hills Synagogue, in the heart of the iconic city of Beverly Hills, where he and his family now reside.
Rabbi Dunner is a member of the executive board of the Israel Christian Nexus, and regularly speaks at churches across the United States, promoting friendship and cooperation between the Jewish and Christian communities, and encouraging the US-Israel relationship to enthusiastic audiences of faithful Christians.
Rabbi Dunner is an inspirational speaker who has the ability to weave history, theology, politics and contemporary events, into a fascinating and compelling oratorical display that lights up convention halls and public gatherings.
