Jim Lockwood is a dynamic singer and pianist. He performs solo shows throughout the southern region of the US and performs music from the 50's to today's current hits. His venues and events include weddings, corporate events, private parties, restaurants, casinos, and night clubs. Jim provides his own PA system, baby grand piano, and lights. Additional equipment is available upon request. Jim Lockwood was born into a musical family. His father was a big band musician playing baritone sax and clarinet with many bands and entertainers of the day including Gene Krupa. His mother was an aspiring country singer/songwriter who made records in Nashville, TN and performed in nightclubs and on television in the sixties and early seventies. Jim was bitten by the musical bug early in life when Beatlemania swept the world. Originally a singer/guitarist, Jim switched to piano when he broke his left index finger resulting in partial loss of motion. Jim began his musical career with a high school friend as Landry/Lockwood a duo performing the singer/songwriter music of the early seventies. Jim then began joining bands as vocalist/frontman and performed with various bands including Wild Rice, Homegrown Band, and Roulette touring the gulf south and “paying his dues” in nightclubs, concert halls, and dances. Roulette was the band that energized Jim's passion for writing and performing his own songs, and when the band broke up (as all bands do eventually) he partnered with Roulette's sound engineer Steve Matthews to open Rockit Recording Studio in 1983. After working at his songwriting skills for a few years, Jim released “High Note” his first album/CD and formed his own band “Lockwood” and hit the road once again promoting his original music and earning more fans throughout the gulf south. While a lot of fun was to be had on the road, Lockwood eventually broke up and Jim began performing with many cover bands throughout the 90's and into the new millennium. These band included Blind Ambition, The Blue Meanies, Summer Breeze, The Distractions, Clockwerk, and Paper Steamboat. In early 2013 Jim's friend John Autin, a prominent singer/pianist in New Orleans approached Jim about performing in a dueling piano show at Spirits On Bourbon, a successful bar/restaurant on world famous Bourbon Street. Spirits On Bourbon had been featured in an episode of Spike TV's “Bar Rescue” series, and is now one of the “hot spots” on Bourbon street where tourists from all over the world flock to get a shot in the “barber chair” and rock out to the dueling piano show. This opportunity gave Jim's career a new direction, and in addition to Spirits On Bourbon, Jim now performs regularly at The Chophouse, an upscale restaurant in downtown New Orleans. Jim also books private parties and continues to perform with bands on occasion. Every summer Jim can be seen performing at Beatlefest, an annual Beatles tribute show at House of Blues New Orleans with his friends The Topcats and Chuck Credo IV. This show has become a summer “event” in New Orleans and sells out every year.
