Johnny McGhee-Lead/Rhythm Guitar & Vocals
Since the early '70s, this talented guitarist and arranger has been a subtle presence in a variety of funk-related music. John's roots are in jazz, soul and R&B, including playing with George Duke, Marvin Gaye and Natalie Cole. John's work culminated as a core member of L.T.D. John helped produce Les McCann's 1979 Tall, Dark and Handsome album, along with virgin mixing of The Scotti Brothers Funk Club. Johnny has dozens of writing and production credits to his name, many Top-40 songs, two Gold albums and one Platinum album.
Jimmy Hooten-Bass Guitar & Vocals
Originally from Louisville, Kentucky, Jimmy grew up with the rich sounds of blues, R&B, and gospel music. His musical journey started at age 15, forming his first band with his brothers and playing gigs around Kentucky. He has played in many bands over the years and plays many different styles. Jimmy's musical influences include Stanley Clark, Louis Johnson, Paul McCartney, and the list goes on.
Karen Johnson Moore -- Lead Vocals
And accomplished singer and songwriter, Karen has performed virtually her whole life. Karen studied jazz vocals at the University of Minnesota and provides professional voice-over service, lead and background vocals for national and local media. She has also released several dance singles and Christian music. Most recently, Karen supported and performed with Jay Most Music Lyric's Luther Vandross & performs regularly with keyboardist, Thomas West.
Mark Medcalf – Drums & Vocals
Born in London, England, Mark first toured USA with the English band Flair (1979 -1981) after winning the London TV talent show New Faces in 1978. Returned to England, recorded and performed with Simon Townsend, Vendetta and other bands in London. Returned to the USA in 1983 and was the original drummer with Minneapolis based Slave Raider. Musically well rounded, Mark performed and recorded with The Steeles, Cynthia Johnson, The Rembrandts, The Del Counts and other bands. In 2007 Mark was inducted in to the Minnesota Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Jay Meier-Lead/Rhythm Guitar & Vocals
Delta and Chicago blues shaped Jays musical styles. Raised in Madison WI and self-taught, his simple but aggressive guitar playing echoes Buddy Guy, Albert King, Elmore James, Eric Clapton, Paul Black and Keith Richards. Jay has played in numerous club bands over the years.
Calvin Cyprian-Keyboard & Vocals
Cal began playing music in the early 70's “woodshedding” within the Twin Cities music scene and performing at the local venues of the time. His influences shaped the “Minneapolis sound” that later became nationally known. He hit the road in the late 70's and settled in LA where he joined the staff at Conchillo Records to write and record music for Conchillo's various clients. This experience afforded him the opportunity to mingle and work with music industry notables like James Gatson, Milo Henderson, Joe Tex, and Kiddo.
