Le Strange: "A Tribute to All That Rocks" Cover Band from Santa Cruz, CA

Think of us as a dance oriented rock tribute band that couldn't settle on a single group. Hence the term "A Tribute to All That Rocks!" Some have described us as a "Guitar Hero" type of band. You owned the vinyl, maybe the 8 track. You heard some of these songs in your friend's primer gray Camaro on your way to a keg party. While we take the quality of the musicianship seriously, this kind of rock is meant to be played with unfettered abandon and without pretense. Tongue in cheek arena rock posturing is played for laughs on epic rock anthems while smoldering love songs like Patti Smith's Because The Night are treated with the respect they deserve. Le Strange is more of an interactive dance/concert format than the typical "live" juke box a cover band can provide. We're rock fans ourselves and are totally committed to this music. "Cover" bands select their songs from a one size fits all template merely for the paycheck. The musicians in Le Strange actually believe in the songs they play. You can hear and see the difference. Aside from the odd R&B, Johnny Cash, or blues tune, our show is 90% rock. Can you dance to it? You can't help but dance to it! We've been packing the dance floors at Monterey Bay area venues like The Crows Nest and Don Quixote's International Music Hall. You'll hear all an arena's worth of your shout along favorites that are not typically covered by "me too" bands. A variety of rock and new wave hits from the Go Go's to Cheap Trick. Our amiable, and at times comic, delivery gaurantees everyone in the room gets a backstage pass to a good time. It's simple. You want your guests to have a blast right? We'll make sure they do. Most cover bands try to play a little bit of everything. The result? A lackluster event that never builds momentum and only succeeds with a handful of people at any given time. Why is rock your best bet for a mixed demographic? While fans of rock can be somewhat finicky about disco, hip hop and country, many fans of those genres are also rock music consumers. As far as an age demographic goes, mature listeners owned the albums. Younger listeners know the songs from playing Guitar Hero. Why waste time with the same old thing from the same old bands?
