About Vendor

Learn more about this vendor for your event.

Groove Garden is a cover band that was formed to perform at Lakeside Golf Club's annual event, which also featured Don Felder, formerly of the "Eagles." Since then, the band has performed at local clubs and benefit functions throughout southern California. Groove Garden is comprised of cousins Mike and Bob, friend Herb, and the husband and wife team of Patrick and Shelly. Lead Vocals Shelly Martin came to California from Colorado in 2004. Her powerful, soulful vocals set the tone for the "Groove Garden" sound. Shelly and her husband Patrick first played together performing original music in the band "Solar Heat," while teaching overseas in Pakistan. After returning to the U.S. they played in the band "Rhythm Doctors" in Moab, Utah, and then formed and fronted two bands in Grand Junction, Colorado. Shelly is versatile in all styles, ranging from Pop, to Classic Rock, Jazz, Soul and Rhythm & Blues. She also writes some of the material performed by the band. Shelly has also sang lead with the Colorado Blues/Rock Band, "The Uranium Blues Band", when they performed at Joe Cocker's Mansion in Crawford,CO, and has performed at the "House of Blues" on Sunset Strip. Saxophone, Keyboard & Vocals Patrick Martin is a graduate of Central Michigan University with a Bachelor of Music Education degree. In addition to holding several music educator positions in Colorado, Michigan and Pakistan, Patrick is a woodwind & brass instrument repair specialist and private saxophone teacher in the Conejo Valley. He also doubles on Flute and Keyboards. He has lead and formed and performed in several Jazz, Blues, R&B and Rock Bands over the years. He has performed in several Hollywood clubs including the "House of Blues" on Sunset Strip and has performed at Joe Cocker's mansion in Colorado for his annual benefit for the Cocker's Kids Foundation. Bass and Vocals Herb Deitelbaum hails from Philadelphia and has been musically inclined since age 12, playing drums, piano, and guitar. Since relocating to California in 1975, Herb studied classical music theory, voice, guitar and piano at L.A. Valley College for two years. Herb eventually found his primary interest in bass guitar during the late 1970s and has played in various small-time rock bands through the years, finally breaking into the nightclub cover band circuit in southern L.A. and Orange County with "Teazer" in 1980. From 1988 to 1995, while living in Tucson, Arizona, Herb began playing country music to round out and complement his rock and classical stylings. Currently, in addition to his work with "Groove Garden," Herb plays bass and sings backup in an original project with "Steven Casper & Cowboy Angst." Guitar Robert Hinds picked up guitar in high school and studied music theory as an elective in college. After college, Bob played in a rock band called "Empty Pockets" until 1992. In 2003, Bob joined forces with his cousin Mike, playing in various bands prior to the formation of Groove Garden. Drums & Percussion Mike Dinardo started drumming at the age of 5 under the tutelage of his grandfather Mike and older brother Bill. Never having a formal lesson and lacking interest because of athletic pursuits, Dinardo was re-engaged by friends at Lakeside Golf Club in the late 90s to play at the annual Clambake and later joined cover band "Mid-Life Crisis." He left that band in 2003 and joined forces with cousin Bob to play dance/blues/cover music with several bands until finally piecing together the current talent which constitutes "Groove Garden."
