Beats Walkin' specializes in the great tradition of Texas-styled western swing music. With hot fiddle and steel guitar, a tight rhythm section, dynamic vocal harmonies, and a repertoire that spans everything from Bob Wills, George Strait, and Asleep at the Wheel to Ella Fitzgerald and Cole Porter, Beats Walkin' will have you and your guests two-steppin' all the way from Austin to Boston! Dynamic 6-piece Texas-swing (aka "country swing"; aka "western swing") band in the style of Asleep at the Wheel or Bob Wills & His Texas Playboys. This music was the Southwest's response to big-band swing that was taking hold on the East coast during the 1940's. It is an infectious mix of country, jazz, rock, Cajun/zyedeco all mixed in together. Everybody loves Beats Walkin', no matter what their personal musical tastes, because there's a bit of every style incorporated into Texas-swing. Whether they're listening or dancing, BW audiences - of all ages - are always having fun! We are especially a great choice for Texas-style barbecues because we offer a humorful, sophisticated blend of "country-jazz" that is likely to span the tastes of most people in attendance and make everyone feel happy. Please be aware, however, that we do not play commercial country music or line dance music. We are specialists in western swing! Membership/instrumentation includes two fabulous female singers, one of whom plays a swingin' electric rhythm guitar, a hot fiddler, a world-renowned pedal steel guitarist/jazz guitarist, bass guitarist and drummer. Three of the men also sing some of the tunes - each one a unique character in his own right. The band is renowned throughout the Northeast, having been featured several times at the prestigious Philadelphia Folk Festival and many other area festivals, and having their two CDs aired regularly on area radio stations.
