Since graduating from the prestigious Peabody Conservatory of Johns Hopkins with a Master's and Performance Diploma in guitar, David William Ross has performed extensively across the US from Boston to LA. He plays classical-nylon, steel-string, and electric guitars, often performing classical repertoire alongside contemporary songs. He regularly takes requests in advance for arrangements of anything from Elvis to Nico alongside Canon in D, Mendelssohn, Bach, and other unique repertoire. He will also send original recordings of your arrangements to keep you in the process! An international award winning and competition guitarist that will draw from a deep repertoire of classical, flamenco, folk, popular, and jazz traditions to tailor a performance to meet your event's needs. David is among the most sought-after collaborators in New England. An avid jazz musician, he regularly performs venues across New England in combos and big bands as well as leading his own groups in jazz clubs, concert halls, and studio sessions. He also works in many classical chamber groups with flute, clarinet, violin, cello, and piano.
Recently, David has added studio recording and live sound production to his list of activities. Bringing his real world experience of sound, mixers, amplifiers, microphones, and acoustics to the job, David is able to provide sound for individual speeches, small ensembles, or full bands.
David earned a B.M. in Guitar Performance and a B.A. in both composition and theory from Keene State College, a M.M. and a Graduate Performance Diploma from the prestigious Peabody Conservatory of Johns Hopkins University where he served as the assistant to the renowned guitar department. David's classical guitar studies have been with composer/performer Jose Lezcano, renowned teacher/performer Julian Gray, and virtuoso Scott Tennant. He has performed frequently in the masterclasses of Manuel Barrueco at Peabody, Eliot Fisk at the New England Conservatory, and Pepe Romero at the University of Southern California.
David currently serves on the faculty of Fitchburg State University, the Concord Community Music School, and Elm City Music where he teaches music history, art aesthetics, guitar, and improvisation. He has also taught courses at Keene State College and the Vermont Jazz Center in music theory, ear training, and improvisation. In addition, David does session work for PARMA Recordings in Boston and greater New England.
