About Vendor

A true Neapolitan, classical pianist Julian Lawrence Gargiulo is a dynamic performer who renders the works of the Romantic masters with extraordinary passion and precision, and captivates audiences with humorous stories about the music, composers, and himself. 'His powerful energy enveloped the audience' observed State Magazine in Washington, DC while L'Arena di Verona in Italy wrote 'a romantic pianist with a particular sensibility for Schumann... Beethoven rich in textural subtleties... exquisite Gershwin'. The St. John Times proclaimed him 'a Tour de Force of wit and brilliance both on the keyboard and off' in the Virgin Islands (where he has become an annual event), and in Germany, the G.P. Tagblatt agreed that 'all the elements of an international career are present: talent, musicality, technique, and charisma'. About his unusually engaging audience interactions, reviewers said 'the audience struggled to contain its laughter for his Jerry Seinfeld way of storytelling'... 'somewhere between a lecture recital and Saturday Night Live'. Julian Lawrence built a foundation in the Romantic masterworks of classical music with an early education at the Verona State Conservatory and the Rome Academy in Italy. An internship at the Moscow State Conservatory imbued his playing with rigorous precision and expressive power. Then a grant award from the Peabody Conservatory of Music at Johns Hopkins University brought Julian Lawrence to study in the United States, where he completed a doctoral degree in music and acquired his ultimate breadth, depth and signature style. 'A superb pianist with a virtuoso technique and a very special musicality' compliments Cuban-American pianist Santiago Rodriquez. Julian Lawrence has recently released two CDs: ‘The Romantic Piano’, a studio compilation considered his most representative work, and ‘Preludes – Live from Italy’ produced from his 2003 European concert tour. Both albums are available on independent labels at CDBaby.
