OVER A HALF CENTURY OF PLAYING EXPERIENCE!! Vocals!"An Honest If Not Brilliant Approach To Guitar Playing" New England Conservatory 1972! "Alan Was Amazing", "Very Professional", "Punctual", "Easy To Work With" These Are Just a few of the words from some of my most recent reviews to describe my services! Hello Everybody My name is Alan Lee Wilson. From a very young age I have had a love affair with the guitar and the music that emanates from it's delicate curvaceous body.Guitar and Music are the passion of my life I am a full time musician all I do is play gigs and I can focus completely on a heart felt performance for your event. I have been playing guitar now for 58 years and classical guitar for over 55.I also Sing I have been Gigmasters no. 1 ranked classical/acoustic guitarist in Maine for the past 10 years running. I would love to share my talent with you. I play and learn the music that you want me to play! You are in the driver's seat! I Studied guitar at New England Conservatory in Boston with a major in guitar Performance. My repertoire ranges from Bach to Rock! . I played Electric Guitar at age thirteen and played in several rock bands in the Midwest before developing an interest in Classical or "Spanish" guitar which is traditionally payed on a nylon stringed instrument with the fingers. The Classical guitar refers more to a technique of guitar playing rather than the music and it is a very versatile method of playing where you can play almost any type of music on it from Bach to Pop. The guitar is almost like a miniature orchestra and presents numerous possibilities for a Wedding or Dinner setting. The guitar is very much a solo instrument but unlike the organ or piano the guitar is very portable and can go almost anywhere and when it is amplified through my fine sound system it presents absolutely no problem when amplification is necessary. There are many people who have never heard of "The Classical Guitar" and may even be turned off by the mere mention of classical music but to them I invite them to listen to my numerous audio and video examples and to read my reviews which I feel speak for themselves, and give me a try and you may be pleasantly surprised at what my guitar can do for your event. My first Classical Guitar teacher was Jim.Bleskan in Superior Wisconsin. I then went on to study with Jeffrey Van and Charlie Pederson in Minneapolis. I also studied guitar with Robert Paul Sullivan at New England Conservatory in Boston. I also studdied with Bill Viola And Joe Mayes in Philadelphia.I also studied Jazz Guitar with Harry Chalmiers at the Indian Hill School of Music in Littleton,Ma. I was the first student to recieve credit for Classical Guitar at The Unniversity of Wisconsin, Superior chiefly from my own efforts in pursuading the Administration in recognizing the Guitar as a worthy insrument of serious study alongside the piano and violin. I also studied string bass under Johann Lingamen while at the Unniversity of Wisconsin and I played that instrument in the Unniversity symphony orchestra while there. I have a huge repoirtoire from the Rennasaince period music of John Dowland such as the Frog Galliarde or from the Baroque period such as Jesu Joy or the 1st lute suite by J.S. Bach to Spanish Romantic music such as Granada or Sevilla by Issac Albeniz or La Maja De Goya by Enrique Granados. I also play Music by The Beatles for classical guitar such as Across the Unniverse or Here There and Everywhere. I also play rock aranged for acoustic guiar such as Riahnon or Freebird (Clasdic, Rock, Pop or Folk songs available with or without vocals) and Ragtime such as The Maple Leaf Rag or The Entertainer by Scott Joplin.I also play Standards like Paper Moon or Georgia on My Mind. I once went for a one night gig at The Weathervane Resturant in Readfield Maine and I ended up Playing there for four years every week. I was also featured in a recital by the Boston Classical Guitar Society. I have two sound systems that I set up separately so I don't have to set up twice when playing both the ceremony and cocktail hour. I can run on battery power for locations without electricity.I can go completely unplugged for small intimate events. I have mics for announcements and a DJ machine I can patch trhough my PA for recorded music. I do DJ services on a limited basis when clients may be on a tight budjet, One of my many jobs in my life ouside of music was a radio DJ many years ago in the 70's and 80's..Alan Lee Wilson plays Jose Ramirez and C.F. Martin guitars.

Celebration•Reviewed on September 1, 2022•From Groton, MA

I hired Alan for my husband's Celebration of Life. My husband played the classical guitar, and I wanted to capture his essence, and upbeat attitude for the event. Like a pro, Alan promptly reached out and asked if I had specific musical selections in mind, which I did. He kept in touch regularly up to the week of the event, inquiring about particular details he needed to do a great job. He did an outstanding job creating a lively, celebratory atmosphere, exactly what I was expecting from a professional. Alan was pleasant to work with, reliable, and experienced. I would hire him again in a heartbeat. Gratifying experience. Thank you, Alan!
