The Main Thing Band Classic Rock Band from Huntington Beach, CA

The Main Thing is a classic rock band based in the Huntington Beach/Fountain Valley area of Orange County. We are a four member band, but have a pretty diverse repertoire due to the fact that one of our members, Dan Marsey, splits duties between keyboard and guitar. In that way, we can move from Elton John/Billy Joel, to The Rolling Stones, Badfinger, REM, et al...we are able to tackle great songs both as a guitar combo and as a keyboard driven unit. The four of us have many, many years of experience under our belts as musicians and, importantly, as functioning band members. This means we get along very well; we share many musical influences; our shared experiences are reflected in our playing and stage demeanor. We *love* rock and roll; melody, harmony and cool sounding instruments!! It helps that all four band members have vocal ability, which also opens up the songbook to arrangements featuring 2, 3 or 4 part harmony. We practice nearly every week, but we don't play out every weekend and we very much like top quality gigs (like private parties, festivals and the like). We know how to modulate our sound (loud vs quiet) - in fact we did a private party in early 2016 where we barely needed to use our mics! But it was great - a fun challenge and the crowd was singing along with us like an old hootenanny!! We love to entertain. We love to play. We dig into the great classic rock songbook and have put together 70+ songs that are all recognizable, but not necessarily the same old songs you may hear from 90% of the bands out there. One frequent comment we get from fans/customers runs along the lines of "You guys pick the best songs. It's refreshing to hear so many great tunes that no one else bothers to play." (E.g. Baby Blue by Badfinger). Anyhow - we are pros; we are easy and fun to work with; we are punctual and responsible; we know how to behave. We have great equipment, too. Hope to talk with you soon!
