The group likes playing a variety of alternative bluegrass and traditional folk songs. They are home-grown North Dakota people who love the land, their church , and their families.
Cowboy poetry is an added feature if it is needed for the venue. Terry Schwartz (the Polack) does and excellent job with his original poetic and humorous stories of his life.Terry is a farmer/rancher of Arrow S Farm near Spiritwood Lake, ND. He plays lead guitar and sings melody for the group.
Kenny Frey (The Great E) is a retired farmer from Spiritwood, ND and lives with his lovely wife Judy. He plays bass and sings harmony. Carrie Roemmich (Charismo) an artisan and mom of two in Jamestown, ND, who plays rhythm guitar and sings melody and harmony. He does cowboy poetry and composes songs when he gets inspired. Linda Tesky (Pollanthra), is in partnership with Arrow S Farm and also lives near Spiritwood Lake, ND. She plays banjo, harmonica and sings harmony and some melody. She also is an artisan of many mediums when she gets inspired. Beth Cole (Sweedie) Works out of her home as an architect. She has a quilting machine in her basement from which her sideline business creates some fantastic quilts. She plays mandolin and guitar (in that order) and sings some pretty great songs.
Named for the lake near their home, Spiritwood Creek has plenty of spirit. In 2006 they took 2nd place in the North Dakota Homegrown talent contest that same year they were the opening act for Monroe Crossing another popular Bluegrass band from the Minneapolis area. They played 3 years at the Midwinter Bluegrass festival in Minnesota as well as the Cross Ranch Bluegrass festival held near Washburn ND.
Their debut CD is called "Life's A One Way Road" which consists of original and traditional songs that speak of love, death and other life experiences.
Always entertaining , Spiritwood Creek has played such venues as the Empire Theatre in Grand Forks, ND, the Belle Mehus Auditorium in Bismarck ND and the Dakota Cowboy Poetry Gathering in Medora ND .
