Think of Bill Monroe. Doc Watson, Flatt & Scruggs, The Dillards, Roscoe Holcomb, Stanley Bros, Skillet Lickers, New Lost City Ramblers, Tony Rice, Jerry Douglas, but with some grit, held together with a little bit of bailing wire and hemp rope. Best acoustic act in 2010 FW Weekly Awards with now, three cds to their credit and have made several appearances on KNON 89.3 Dallas community radio. The Blackland River Devils play traditional old time and bluegrass tunes with some of their own songs in the blend. All of these guys are accomplished musicians, coming from different backgrounds and past bands, such as blues, rock, country, metal. Some local DFW music fans might remember Killbilly from the 90s, the band in which current Devil, Harris Kirby was a member of. They don't mind showing off their multi-instrumental prowess either, as they switch instruments during the show, sometimes stretching songs out into improvised jam. "Blackland River Devils churn out spry bluegrass and Dust Bowl ballads. With a simple arrangement of guitar, harmonica, dobro, upright bass, mandolin — the quartet spits out floor-stompers, looking to kick up some trouble along with nostalgia for even-poorer-than-now times." Cole Garner Hill - Fort Worth Weekly "Maybe it's the speed at which the Blackland River Devils churn out their splendid bluegrassy hoedowns or the variety of instruments employed (mandolin, banjo, dobro). Whatever the case, the devils can mesmerize." Caroline Collier - Fort Worth Weekly "Ex-metalhead Darrin Kobetich leads his Blackland River Devils through the Bad(-ass)lands of old-timey music and bluegrass ...and there may be no better band than local trad-bluegrass stompers the Blackland River Devils to do it..." - Fort Worth Weekly
